Susan Taylor's insight:

Do you often find that others are not on the same emotional plane as you are?  That is the question European researchers asked as they devised a test to identify the part of the brain that deals with empathy.

It turns out that our brains are actually trying to help us be more empathetic.  And it is the hope of Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi and the author of this blog, that research will continue to go towards finding ways to improve our empathy levels...Without it, we're not human.

Susan Taylor's insight:

We are hearing it now -- perhaps for the first time.  There may be a downside to Mindfulness.

According to recent research at Georgetown University, "studies suggest that mindfulness can undercut the automatic learning processes."  In short, implicit learning -- the "automatic" learning that occurs without awareness -- was affected.  In this study, distracted people actually scored higher in implicit learning than their "mindful" counterparts.

Based on these findings, will you continue (or begin) your mindfulness practice?
