Paul Hamilton has reviewed the Google Chrome TTS tool that can support all learners. Here is what he had to say about "Select and Speak".
"Select and Speak is a free extension for Google Chrome that provides high quality text to speech for any selected online text. Once installed, and text has been selected, there are three ways of having the text read aloud. You can click on an icon in the extensions toolbar, or right-click and use the context menu. Alternatively, you can use a customizable keyboard shortcut. This shortcut is ctrl + shift + s by default." Delete the scoop?

"UDL asks the instructor to identify the key goal(s) and objectives of a course or an assignment and then provide multiple and flexible methods of presentation, expression, and engagement. This flexibility does not mean diminishing the intellectual rigor of the course or assignment. Instead, it means recognizing that a learning goal can be accomplished through a host of means." George Washington University Assistant Professor, Robbin Zeff, offers four ways that UDL can be incorporated into instruction. Although this was written in 2005, these four advice still holds true. The four ways includes:
>> #1: Design instructions with the user in mind >> #2: Reduce barriers to accessing the assignment >> #3: Establish and articulate an assignment’s goals and objectives and criteria for assessment from the start >> #4: Provide examples Included are instructional strategies that can be easily integrated into the design of the assignment.
