Election 2015: English Democrats launch campaign with attack on 'traitors'

Election 2015: English Democrats launch campaign with attack on 'traitors' | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
The leader of the English Democrats warned about an "anti-English conspiracy" between Labour and the SNP as he launched the party's general election campaign.

Speaking near Traitor's Gate, at the Tower of London, Robin Tilbrook said a deal between the two parties would be "against the English".
He also criticised UKIP for not being interested in English nationalism.
The party is fielding 35 candidates at the general election.
In the past it has campaigned for an English Parliament but now says it wants to see a fully independent England, as well as withdrawal from the EU.

'English voice'
The party chose the Hung, Drawn and Quartered Pub, near the Tower of London, to launch its campaign, saying it would send a "message from history for those that might want to conspire against English interests", said Mr Tilbrook.

"We say that the prospect of a Labour/SNP government, perhaps backed up by Plaid Cymru - and there has been some talks, we gather, with Sinn Fein... will be an anti-English conspiracy of a government and therefore we can start to talk about treason," he said.

The SNP has said it is prepared to work with Labour - perhaps as part of a "progressive alliance" with Plaid - to keep the Conservatives out of government, although Labour has ruled out a formal coalition and has described links with Sinn Fein as "absolute rubbish".
Plans to film an interview with Mr Tilbrook at Traitor's Gate had to be abandoned after officials from the Tower put a stop to it.
But the party, which claims to be the only one offering a "voice to the English" at the general election, was able to unveil a defector from UKIP.

Graham Moore said he had been due to stand for Nigel Farage's party at the general election but jumped ship at the start of the year because UKIP "have no interest in England whatsoever".
He is now standing for the English nationalist party in Erith and Thamesmead, east London.
'Last gasp'

The English Democrats are fielding fewer candidates than they did at the 2010 general election but are concentrating on areas where they have support, including a full slate in South Yorkshire.
They are also standing in the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, the most northerly constituency in England, and Monmouth, in Wales, where they are campaigning for a local referendum on whether the area should become part of England again.

Mr Tilbrook said the party was "consolidating our position as the English nationalist party", and wanted to be ready to capitalise if UKIP's progress came to a "juddering halt" at the election, offering a home to "those people in UKIP who are basically English nationalists".

The party is also campaigning against Labour, Conservative and Lib Dem plans to give more self-government to the English regions, arguing that it would a "shame" to sacrifice England's unity for a "last gasp attempt to save the Union".

Obama Just Made A Highly Illegal Move Against Christians- He Could Be In Trouble // MrConservative.com | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
President Obama just made a move against Christians that could land him in big trouble.
Thanks to Obama, faith-based aide organizations are being forced to refer young refugees who have been sexually assaulted to abortion clinics, even though this violates their religious beliefs.
“Faith-based groups say this is a contravention of the rights of parents and a violation of the conscience rights of faith-based groups helping resettle the children,” said Dr. Susan Yoshihara of the Center for Family & Human Rights.
According to Dr. Yoshihara, Obama and his goons quietly changed the rules to “require faith-based providers to make referrals for emergency contraception, partner with groups that provide for abortion, or notify the federal government that would make arrangement for the abortion.”
According to Conservative Tribune, the Obama administration consciously tried to keep this quiet by “fast tracking” the regulation change before waiting for normal public notice, congressional oversight or comment process.
On top of this, religious aide groups are being forced to promote “transgender and intersex” values.
“The rules assert that ‘gender’ refers to the attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that a given culture associates with a person’s biological sex,’ and that ‘this term is not to be confused with sex, which refers to a person’s biological status and is typically categorized as male, female, or intersex,” stated Dr. Yoshihara.
Religious aide groups like Catholic Relief Services, World Relief and World Vision are taking a stand against Obama by voicing their anger to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“The interim report falls short of adequately protecting (relief groups) with religious or moral objections to providing (services or information) to which such organizations have a religious or moral objection,” read a joint message from several faith-based groups.
Freedom of Religion is one of the most fundamental rights our forefathers gave us, and Obama is currently violating it. The president clearly has no respect for the constitution, or Americans who believe in the Christian faith.

Boy of 13 given life sentence for killing woman by stamping on her face

Boy of 13 given life sentence for killing woman by stamping on her face | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
A 13-year-old boy, who killed a woman by stamping on her face, has been given a life sentence.

Petri Kurti knocked Glynis Bensley, 47, to the ground, before robbing her and stamping on her face with such force that his footprint was left on her cheek.

She died later from a severe bleed in the brain, after the attack outside the Seven Stars pub in Smethwick, West Midlands, in September.

Kurti was given a minimum tariff of 12 years, but will have to serve another 11 years and four months before he can be considered for parole due to time spent in custody awaiting trial.

Kurti was ordered to be detained at her majesty’s pleasure – the equivalent of a minimum-term life sentence for a youth, by Judge John Warner at Wolverhampton crown court.

A second defendant, Zoheb Majid, 20, was jailed for 10 years for her manslaughter. The pair were also both found guilty of robbing Bensley of her money, phone, jewellery and cigarettes before leaving her in the street.

The boy reportedly handed himself in to the police several days after the attack, and Majid was arrested shortly afterwards.

At the end of the trial, the judge lifted reporting restrictions that meant the schoolboy could be named. However, his picture can still not be published.

Bensley’s sister, Dawn, said the murder had taken place just yards from where she had been born. “She didn’t deserve it – nobody deserves it,” she said. “They went out to do whatever. It was a needless act. They’ve still got their lives.

“It doesn’t matter how long they serve, they still get to go and see their family. Their families still get to see their sons. But we won’t get our sister back. It’s our family who are serving the life sentence.”

She said: “We are a very close and supportive family, and always look out for each other – to try and explain how Glynis’s murder has affected us is very hard to put into words. Glynis was my only sister and best friend – I would describe her as my right arm and I thought we would grow old together.”

Warner said the schoolboy had initially been boastful about the murder, but had later cried, saying he had not meant to do it.

The victim’s brother, John, said: “We couldn’t get over it, it didn’t sink in until the next morning. This is the kind of thing that always happens to other people.”

At the time of the pair’s conviction, DCI Sam Ridding said: “It was clearly the joint intention of the pair to use violence on anyone they targeted: they were in it together as the CCTV showed – they arrived within seconds of each other.

“Ms Bensley was tragically in the wrong place at the wrong time and was randomly picked out by the pair, believing that she was a man and that she was wearing a gold bracelet.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service said on Friday: “These two defendants had targeted Ms Bensley because she was a vulnerable female who was walking home on her own at night.

“Our thoughts are today with the family and friends of Ms Bensley.”

Chibok 'Ambassadors' Vow to Keep Fighting for Hostages' Release

Chibok 'Ambassadors' Vow to Keep Fighting for Hostages' Release | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
The 219 schoolgirls who marched through Nigeria's capital on Tuesday said they will never tire of fighting for the rights of their kidnapped "sisters" who cannot speak for themselves.

Each girl carried a placard bearing the name of one of the hostages still missing after they were kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamist militants in the northeast town of Chibok one year ago.

"Three-hundred-and-sixty-five-days and we are still calling out loud and clear, stronger than ever," said Rebecca Ishaku, one of the marchers who have been dubbed "Chibok Ambassadors" on the first anniversary of the kidnapping.

"We will not get tired of calling for the release of our sisters," she said.

The group began its march at the Unity Fountain in central Abuja, where members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign have met nearly every day since May.

Nigeria's president-elect Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday cautioned he could not make promises on the return of the 219 missing schoolgirls.

The BBOG group, with its corresponding Twitter campaign, was largely responsible for calling the world's attention to the gruesome mass abduction in Chibok and the brutality of Boko Haram's six-year uprising.

In the early weeks, the campaign gained momentum through support from US First Lady Michelle Obama, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, world leaders and pop stars.

But even after the initial media firestorm faded, BBOG activists continued to gather each afternoon, demanding action from a Nigerian government accused of downplaying the hostage crisis for political reasons.

They faced violence from police and plain-clothed thugs who sought to clear them out of the Unity Fountain park overlooked by the Transcorp Hilton, where Nigeria's political and business ultra-elite gather for meetings.

The Chibok ambassadors, ranging from 7 to 17 in age, all wore red t-shirts that have become synonymous with the BBOG campaign, shouting a slogan captured repeatedly by the media in recent months:

"Bring back our girls now and alive," they demanded as they converged on the education ministry.

After being held briefly outside the gate, they met with ministry officials to restate the group's core message.

"We ask that the government, as a matter of priority, make education safe in all parts of Nigeria while prioritizing the return of our sisters," Ishaku said.

Tears were visible on the faces of other girls as they recounted their grievances to the handful of officials who met outside the ministry building.

With the group expected to continue its march through Abuja on Tuesday, demonstrations were planned in other major Western cities.

Former French first lady Valerie Trierweiler was among a gathering of roughly 40 people outside the Eiffel Tower.

"It happened far from our home...but how can we remain indifferent to such violence and such inhumanity," said Capucine Nielly, who initiated the demonstration.

In New York, plans were in place to light up the Empire State Building.

In Nigeria, the sombre anniversary was being marked by some of the nation's most prominent voices, including Africa's first-ever winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Wole Soyinka

"We should join hands...to make sure that such an assault on our humanity does not happen again," Soyinka said at a ceremony in the economic capital, Lagos.

Blast, Fierce Clashes Rock Syrian Regime Aleppo Base

Blast, Fierce Clashes Rock Syrian Regime Aleppo Base | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Al-Qaida's Syrian affiliate led a fierce assault on an intelligence base in Aleppo city Monday night after regime attacks on civilian infrastructure in the city forced rebels to shut schools.

Along with other Islamist militants, the al-Nusra Front set off a large tunnel explosion near the air force intelligence headquarters in the west of the northern city.

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the "huge blast" was followed by "intense clashes" as the rebels tried to storm the base.

He said government forces had been able to prevent the rebels from entering the headquarters, but that the fighting was ongoing.

A Syrian security official confirmed to AFP that there had been an explosion in a tunnel near the base, but said that regime forces had "blocked the assault, and that all was quiet now."

A witness living in regime-controlled areas of Aleppo city said he heard a "huge boom" followed by sounds of gunfire.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Abdel Rahman said the militants fired mortar rounds at government forces after the blast, and the loyalists retaliated while regime aircraft pounded rebel positions.

Just over a month ago, dozens of people were killed when al-Nusra and other rebel groups used similar tactics to attack the same intelligence headquarters, first detonating a tunnel explosion and then attacking regime forces.

Setting off explosives at the end of tunnels dug into government-controlled areas has become a favored tactic of Syria's rebels, especially in Aleppo.

- Schools and markets shut -

Earlier on Monday, the city's rebel education authority called on schools and teaching centers in opposition-controlled areas to suspend classes until the end of the week, according to a statement distributed by the Observatory.

It said the decision was made "out of concern for the safety of students and teachers" after an air strike on a school in the city's east on Sunday killed five children, three female teachers and a man.

Bloodstains and debris marked the entrances of the bombed-out school, and broken desks and glass were strewn across classroom floors.

An opposition activist at the Aleppo Media Center told AFP that 135 schools and markets in rebel-held parts of the city were closed "until further notice."

"People are more afraid than usual and there are dozens of families who have fled to refugee camps in Turkey or are internally displaced in Aleppo," the activist said.

Regime aircraft also struck a rebel warehouse storing baking flour and humanitarian assistance in east Aleppo, the Observatory said.

The strike destroyed several hundred tons of flour that were to have been distributed among bakeries in rebel-held parts of the city.

Pictures published by the Observatory showed flour spilling out of shredded bags, mixing with sand and debris from the air strike.

Other regime air attacks on the city killed seven people on Monday, including a father and his two children.

Abdel Rahman told AFP that the Syrian regime's aerial campaign against rebel-held areas of Aleppo had intensified significantly.

"For two months, the army didn't make a single real breakthrough on the battlefield," so it compensated with more air raids, Abdel Rahman said.

Once Syria's economic powerhouse, Aleppo has been divided into government control in the west and rebel control in the east since fighting began there in mid-2012.

Both rebels and regime have been accused by rights groups of indiscriminate bombing.

More than 215,000 people have been killed nationwide since the beginning of Syria's conflict in 2011.

Pig heads dumped outside Solihull 'mosque'

Pig heads dumped outside Solihull 'mosque' | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Pig heads have been dumped outside an old ambulance station after it was claimed the building was being illegally used as a mosque.
Solihull council is investigating whether the community centre is being used for regular worship, which could break planning laws.
A carrier bag believed to have been used to carry the meat is being examined by forensic experts.
The incident on Sunday night is being treated as a hate crime, police said.
CCTV footage appears to show a man putting a package on the centre's doorstep before driving away, according to West Midlands Police.
"We've secured good quality CCTV of the culprits and my detectives are making good progress with the investigation. The forensic evidence we have is also very strong and we expect a result from that in the coming days," Ch Supt Alex Murray said.
Windows on the same building, on Hermitage Road, were also damaged on the previous evening.
Online petition
Some local residents have described the atmosphere in the town as tense.
"I've been living in Solihull for 10 to 15 years now and it's never been as frightening to live in this area as a Muslim as it is now," local resident Mohammed Abdullah said.
Local imam Dr Issam Ghannam, however, said community relations in the town were very good and described it an isolated incident, but said the actions of "a minority" were a "threat to the community".
The council launched its own inquiry after residents claimed they had not been consulted about the building "becoming a mosque".
In April 2014, the council granted permission to change its use from an ambulance station into a training and conference centre.
More than 3,000 people have so far signed an online petition against its use for worship.

Spanish ISIS Cell Planned Beheadings, Attacks on Jews

Spanish ISIS Cell Planned Beheadings, Attacks on Jews | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
A gang suspected of links to the Islamic State (ISIS) group planned possible kidnappings, an execution and attacks on Jewish shops and public buildings in Spain, an investigating judge said Friday.

Judges in Madrid questioned the 11 suspects, including a woman and a 17-year-old, who were arrested on Wednesday in Spain's northeastern Catalonia region, reports AFP.

Ten of were accused of belonging to the Islamic Brotherhood for Preaching Jihad, a group in Spain suspected of recruiting members for ISIS jihad, the National Court in Madrid said on Friday.

An eleventh suspect was accused of possessing arms and explosives, Judge Santiago Pedraz said in a written ruling.

ISIS controls swathes of Syria and Iraq, where it has committed highly publicized abuses including mass kidnappings, rapes and executions.

Authorities now fear the jihadists may extend their attacks into Europe.

"They were considering abducting a person in Spain, dressing them in an orange overall in the style of the group known as Islamic State, interrogating them and cutting their throat in order to broadcast it" by video, a source in the investigation told AFP.

The ISIS has frequently broadcast footage showing their execution victims wearing orange suits of the same style given to prisoners at the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay.

Gang members had also discussed "abducting the director of a bank branch" for ransom, the source added.

The court remanded in custody seven of the suspects on terrorism charges, and released three others pending further proceedings.

After a separate hearing another judge sent the 17-year-old to a juvenile detention center, a court source added.

Officials said on Wednesday that five of the suspects were Moroccans, five Spanish and one Paraguayan.

They said the cell had already sent at least four recruits to Syria and Iraq, where the ISIS declared a "caliphate" last year.

A source in the investigation said the suspects appeared to have been radicalized "very quickly."

Police investigations revealed that the suspected cell founder, Antonio Saez Martinez - dubbed "Ali the Hairdresser" - told other members he came close to launching an attack on a Jewish bookshop in Barcelona, Judge Pedraz wrote.

He allegedly proposed attacks with guns and grenades against synagogues, security forces and the Catalan regional parliament.

Police found on his mobile phone photographs of potential targets for attacks in Barcelona such as a hotel, a police station and a shopping center, the ruling said.

The judge said another of the suspects was a "neo-Nazi" who was caught with a hand grenade, knives, guns and ammunition, while another had material that could be used to make bombs.

Spain stepped up counterterrorism operations after jihadist attacks killed 17 people in Paris in January.

Spanish authorities have arrested around 40 suspected jihadists so far this year - five more than in the whole of 2014.

George Galloway's accusations over opponent's forced marriage

George Galloway's accusations over opponent's forced marriage | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
A hustings in the seat of Bradford West has started trending online - because of a claim by George Galloway about his opponent's forced marriage.
The hashtag #BradfordWest has been retweeted more than 2,000 times after an exchange between the Respect candidate George Galloway and the Labour candidate Naz Shah.
After she was selected as Labour candidate, Shah published an open letter which outlined her extraordinary upbringing. She said she had grown up in severe poverty after her father eloped with a neighbour. She was then sent to Pakistan to escape her mother's abusive partner and while there, aged 15, she says she was forced to marry. Her mother eventually killed her abusive partner and was jailed, which meant that Shah had to care for two younger siblings. She left her husband in 1992, and became active in politics after her mother's imprisonment.
But George Galloway of the Respect Party, whom she is running against for the seat, has attacked her claim that she was forced into a marriage at 15 - or at least, that part of his hustings speech is what picked up the most attention on social media when a clip of Galloway's speech found its way onto YouTube. Shah maintains that her version of events is true.

In the video, Galloway claims that Shah has "only a passing acquaintance with the truth, you claimed and gullible journalists believed you that you were subject to a forced marriage at the age of 15 but you were not 15. You were 16 and a half." He then produces a document which he claims is Shah's nikah (a marriage certificate produced when people are wed under Shariah law). The Guardian's Northern Editor Helen Pidd, who attended the hustings and who was live tweeting throughout the eventreported that Shah "utterly refuted the allegations and said she had the documentation to prove it." Shah accused Galloway of sending someone to Pakistan to impersonate her dead father in order to obtain her "nikah" and vowed to sue Galloway after the general election.

The Guardian's live tweeting of the hustings started to attract attention on Twitter, but unusually given the parties involved, Conservative commentators were among the first ones to leap to Shah's defence online. The former Conservative MP Louise Mensch was the first to take up the issue. "HOW DID YOU OBTAIN NAZ SHAH'S PRIVATE RELIGIOUS DOCUMENTATION" she asked on Twitter. "I'm not a Labour supporter," Mensch tweeted. "But I am a feminist. And if anyone thinks they can smear @NazShahBfd to influence an election they are mistaken."

She continued to tweet on the subject throughout the morning, bringing the video to the attention of the political site Guido Fawkes and other conservative commentators. Soon other political websites, such as Labour List, also started to pay attention as readers started to ask if Galloway's comments may have broken election law.

You can find a full list of all the candidates standing in Bradford West here.

Horrifying fate of the woman impregnated and forced to marry her rapist

Horrifying fate of the woman impregnated and forced to marry her rapist | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
An Afghan woman who was raped by her cousin’s husband and subsequently jailed for adultery is now married to her attacker and pregnant with their third child.

The woman, identified only as Gulnaz, gave an interview to CNN about her harrowing situation with her rapist, Asadullah, and their young daughter sat beside her in Kabul, Afghanistan.

She was assaulted by Asadullah, who was married at the time, when she was just 16 and imprisoned for 'adultery by force' – a ‘crime’ that carried a 12-year jail sentence. She became pregnant from their rape and gave birth in prison.

She was eventually granted a presidential pardon, but believed her only chance of being able to integrate back into Afghanistan society was to marry her rapist.

"I didn't want to ruin the life of my daughter or leave myself helpless so I agreed to marry him," she told CNN. "We are traditional people. When we get a bad name, we prefer death to living with that name in society."

France - Muslim leader calls for doubling number of mosques in France

France - Muslim leader calls for doubling number of mosques in France | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
The number of mosques in France should be doubled over the next two years in order to provide an adequate number of places of worship for the country’s millions of faithful, a top Muslim leader said Saturday.

Dalil Boubakeur, president of the French Muslim Council, said France’s current total of 2,200 mosques was not enough to adequately represent one of Europe's largest Muslim communities.

"We need double (that number) within two years," Boubakeur said during the 32nd edition of the Annual Gathering of French Muslims, a four-day event that brings together more than 250 Muslim associations from across the country.

"There are a lot of prayer rooms, of unfinished mosques, and there are a lot of mosques that are not being built," he added.

Amar Lasfar, president of the Union of Islamic Organisations of France (UOIF), which organises the gathering, agreed.

“The number of mosques must reflect the number of Muslims (in France),” he said.

There are an estimated four to five million Muslims in France, though Boubakeur put the number at seven million. A ban on asking direct questions about race and religion by state bodies when compiling census data makes an exact figure difficult to establish.

In comparison, the UK, which has a Muslim population of approximately 2.8 million, has a total of around 1,500 mosques, or roughly one for every 1,850 Muslims, according to the website MuslimsInBritain.org.

Boubaker did not specify how the new mosques could be funded – something likely to be a significant hurdle to their construction.

France’s secularism laws prohibit the state from directly financing the building of places of worship, while the French government has also sought recently to prevent the funding of mosques by foreign states.

However, Lasfar noted that “fewer and fewer” mayors of French towns and cities “systematically oppose the construction of mosques”, which could make their construction easier.

“We have the right to build mosques, (the right) that mayors do not oppose it," he added.

Church leader backs calls

The call for more mosques in France won backing from one of the country’s Christian leaders with Monsignor Ribadeau-Dumas, spokesperson for the Bishops' Conference of France, describing it as a “legitimate” demand.

“Muslims should, like Christians and Jews, be able to practise their religion,” he told French radio station Europe 1.

However, France’s far-right National Front party, which recently won a quarter of the votes in the first round of local elections, called Boubaker’s proposal “ludicrous and dangerous”.

“There is a cloud of murkiness surrounding the funding of mosques in France today,” the party said in a statement.

“Financial support by some foreign states … which have links with the worst jihadist movements in the world, is a clear threat to national security,” it added.

The weekend’s gathering in the town of Le Bourget, near Paris, comes just months after jihadist gunmen killed 17 people in a series of terror attacks in Paris.

Since then, there has been a marked rise in Islamophobia in France.

Figures show that, in January of this year alone, 167 acts of violence or threats against mosques were reported in France, compared to just 14 in the same month last year, and Boubaker used the conference to appeal for greater respect for the country’s Muslim population.

"Islam is no longer an Islam stemming from immigration, it is a national Islam that has the right to the recognition and consideration of the French population, just like other communities in France," he said.

Participants at the gathering – which included groups ranged from liberal to ultra-conservative – also denounced violence committed in the name of Islam.

"We are loyal to our country, France. We love God, we love our Prophet, but we also love the French Republic," said Lasfar.

FGM cases rise in England, figures ‘only tip of the iceberg’

FGM cases rise in England, figures ‘only tip of the iceberg’ | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
A total of 578 new cases of female genital mutilation (FGM) in England were reported in March this year alone.

From September last year to March 2015, there have been 3,963 new cases nationwide, 60 of which were victims under the age of 18, according to theHealth and Social Care Information Centre.

“Not surprisingly, as more FGM survivors access healthcare, we see a continued increase in the official figures,” Mary Wandia, FGM program manager at Equality Now, told the Guardian.

“However, this number is still only the tip of the iceberg. Last year, we estimated that 137,000 women and girls live in England and Wales who have been affected by FGM. We will continue to see significant month-on-month increases as more women and girls affected by FGM access healthcare. Every month, we are getting a clearer picture of the sheer scale of the issue.”

FGM, a traditional practice to partially or completely remove the outer sexual organs, has been illegal in the UK since 1985. It is mainly practiced in Africa and in a few countries in the Middle East (Yemen, Kurdish communities, Saudi Arabia) and Asia.

Diasporas of those countries living in the UK, including Somalians and Malians, are believed to continue performing FGM. Some 170,000 women and girls are currently thought to be living with FGM in Britain. A further 20,000 girls under the age of 15 are thought to be at risk of the practice.

Up to 140 million women and girls worldwide have been subjected to FGM, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

More than half the women of the African diaspora living in the UK interviewed for a study said they see FGM as abuse. The Southern Domestic Abuse Service and the African Women’s Forum asked 55 women of African communities, including Guinea, Somalia and Gambia, about their views of the practice, in which 60 percent said they were against it.

Research consultant Dr Tamsin Bradley said: “The level of trauma associated with a woman’s own experience of the practice is really significant in shaping her attitude to FGM. A large number of the women interviewed opposed FGM because they were acutely aware of the long-term health complications that women suffer.

“This research is a small study so we can’t draw wide conclusions concerning the whole of the African diaspora communities in Portsmouth and Southampton but it’s an important step forward, which we hope will contribute to eradicating the practice of FGM.”

Marie Costa, chairwoman of the African Women’s Forum, added: “We must help stop the practice of FGM, which ostracizes families who do not conform to it, through support for those who have been mutilated and education of all community groups who culturally practice FGM.”

One of the 40 percent who support FGM, a Gambian woman who went through the procedure when she was five years old, said: “It was very traumatic; I can still recall it now. I do not blame my mother but just accept that it is part of my tradition. It is very painful and problematic for women, but if I have a daughter I would put her through it because it is part of our cultural identity.”

‘Muslim-free’ Arkansas gun range draws wary eye of Justice Department

‘Muslim-free’ Arkansas gun range draws wary eye of Justice Department | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it

On a Sunday afternoon in early January, a father and son walked into the Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range in the 35,600-person town of Hot Springs, Arkansas. They were hoping to fire rounds at targets, just as they have done at the same facility in past years, then under different ownership. During their latest visit, owner Jan Morgan asked the South Asian men to leave the range and threatened to call the cops if they did not.

Their visit came four months after Morgan made national headlines for saying she would not allow Muslims at her range, and the father and son – both Hindu – told local media they thought she mistook their identities because of their brown skin.

Their alleged refusal of service based on their perceived religion has forced the gun range into the middle of a national civil rights fight.

Last September, Morgan declared her business to be a “Muslim-free zone”, a policy that set off a firestorm among religious and civil liberties advocates for denying rights protected under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After calls for an investigation, the US Department of Justice recently confirmed that officials are keeping an eye on the shooting range for allegations of civil rights violations.

Morgan, a second amendment supporter, firearm instructor and television investigative journalist, confirmed over the phone knowledge of the federal government’s decision to monitor her business, but referred the Guardian to an essay she posted this week by way of a response . In it, she writes that she banned Muslims from firing guns at her range because of her responsibility “for the safety and security of innocent people from all races and backgrounds who handle firearms in my facility”.

Jenifer Wicks, litigation director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, last October wrote a letter on behalf of the advocacy group to then-Attorney General Eric Holder requesting an investigation into the Gun Cave’s ban. Though Morgan had not yet denied Muslims service, concerns had already arisen over the controversial policy.

To challenge the policy, volunteers approached Cair willing to be denied service from the Gun Cave, Wicks says. But when Morgan stopped the father and son from using the gun range in January, Cair followed up with the Department of Justice about their denial of service based on their perceived religion.

“It’s unfortunately similar to what we’ve historically seen with public business accommodations in the South during the 1960s that literally advertised black people weren’t allowed,” Wicks told the Guardian. “She seems to have turned that on its face.”

Morgan, who justified the policy because of Gun Cave’s status as a private club with paid memberships, claimed to be in compliance with federal law, as explained to her by an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). According to Morgan, the Federal Bureau of Investigation also said Isis-affiliated militants currently located in Arkansas could target her based on her past remarks about the religion.

Wicks says Morgan has “completely missed the boat” in interpreting the information she received from the ATF agent.

Rita Sklar, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Arkansas chapter, also asked for an investigation into Morgan’s policy generalizing all Islamic people based on the heinous actions of a few extremists. Sklar calls the shooting range’s policy is one of the most “blatant acts of discrimination” she’s seen in more than two decades of defending Arkansas residents’ civil liberties.

“For someone who espouses the patriotism that this woman does, it’s especially shocking because it’s an un-American sentiment,” Sklar told the Guardian. “This is a country that values equality, openness to all religions. It’s a basic tenet of our nation and our nation’s founding. It’s quite disturbing.”

In a short written reply to Cair on 17 April, the Justice Department confirmed that it has begun to monitor Morgan’s gun range. But the letter did not elaborate on whether the department planned to take further action beyond that.

In response, Morgan wrote that federal authorities will keep tabs on her whereabouts not due to her wrongful actions but to protect her after receiving “years of death threats” from Muslims.

“So, do you really think the idea of ‘more monitoring’ of my daily life is somehow a threat to me in any way?” Morgan wrote this week. “I am certain feds are much more concerned about Muslims KILLING me than they are about me hurting the feelings of muslims.”

Morgan seems intent on letting nothing stop her from keeping her shooting range’s “Muslim-free zone” absent of Muslims. The owner has subsequently doubled down on enforcing her code at all costs – even stating that she would rather shut down her business than let Islamic people fire weapons from inside the stalls of her gun range.

“To do anything less, in my current position, would be irresponsible, reckless and life threatening,” Morgan wrote.

UK: Banbury 'social media party' sex abuse gang jailed

UK: Banbury 'social media party' sex abuse gang jailed | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
A gang of five men and a teenager who subjected underage girls to sexual abuse in Oxfordshire after grooming them have been jailed.
The defendants attacked seven victims, aged 13 to 15, in cars, woods or at the defendants' homes in Banbury.
Oxford Crown Court heard they lured victims to parties organised on social media and were found guilty in March.
At the same court, each of the men were handed sentences of between three and nine years.
Ahmed Hassan-Sule, 21, of Glyndebourne Gardens, was sentenced to nine years imprisonment, with a further five years on licence; Mohamed Saleh, 22, of Orchard Way, was jailed for four years and nine months; Said Saleh, 20, of Orchard Way, was jailed for four years; Takudzwa Hova, 21, of Broughton Road, was sentenced to six years with a further four years on licence; and Kagiso Manase, 21, of Warwick Road, received five years.
'Planned beforehand'
Zsolt Szaltoni, 18, of Portway, was sentenced to three years in a young offenders institution.
Speaking after the sentencing, one of the gang's victims, who was 14 at the time, said she was attacked in a car after attending a party organised on Facebook.
"I got in the car because the others left and I was on my own and I didn't know what to do, so I just went with them," she told the BBC.
"I was in the back of the car but I was in the middle... I was just scared. I didn't know what to do, but they'd planned it beforehand.
"They would talk their language... and I didn't understand it."
The girl said, after the party, the abuse continued.
'I was brainwashed'
"It gradually started to become more people. He asked me if I would work for him and I said 'No' and I just laughed it off but, as I realise now, I did it without even knowing - [I did] sex work.
"I thought it was okay, because I was brainwashed. They made me think it was my decision but it wasn't."
The abuse was uncovered after a member of the Kingfisher team - a multi-agency operation tackling child exploitation in Oxfordshire - came to see the victim at school.
She said: "I know there's more girls so it's quite disappointing that they don't have the courage to come forward.
"I just think I'm so lucky because there are lots of other girls who aren't lucky."
The girl said it was her ambition to work in the Kingfisher team and help others who have been in her situation.
She said: "It's important for me to do that. It's closure isn't it?"

The verdicts were -
Ahmed Hassan-Sule was found guilty of 13 counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of assault by penetration
Kagiso Manase was convicted of three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of sexual assault
Takudzwa Hova was found guilty of one count of rape, one count of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. He was found not guilty of one count of rape
Mohamed Saleh was found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child. He was found not guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of rape
Said Saleh was convicted of one count of sexual activity with a child but was found not guilty of another count
Zsolt Szaltoni was found guilty of one count of rape

Egypt: Writer calls for protest against hijab

Egypt: Writer calls for protest against hijab | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
An Egyptian journalist has issued a controversial call for Muslim women in the country to take off their headscarves.
Cherif Choubachy says women should take part in a protest against the hijab in Cairo's Tahrir Square in May, the al-Yawm al-Sabi newspaper reports. He wants women to remove their headscarves while "guarded" by a circle of men, including himself. In a video posted on his Facebook page, Mr Choubachy says women face social pressure and are "looked down on" if they don't wear the hijab, adding that he thinks many wear it "out of fear". The headscarf is still a debated issue in Egypt, with clerics saying it's obligatory in Islam, while intellectuals argue it's actually a tradition rather than a rule.
His comments have been denounced by Egypt's former Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, who says anyone who supports the call doesn't understand Egyptian society or history. Many social media users say women should be left alone to decide for themselves. "I'm a liberal and I'm still against this idea because the hijab is a question of personal freedom," says one man on Twitter. Another person wonders why people are getting worked up about it: "It's the same as other people who call for women to wear the hijab. They don't have the tools of repression needed to impose what they want." And one user wishes people would pay the same amount of attention to education and healthcare issues as they do to debates surrounding women's headscarves.

Three Russian Ships in English Channel, Britain Says

Three Russian Ships in English Channel, Britain Says | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Three Russian ships including a destroyer have entered the English Channel and are being monitored by Britain's Royal Navy as they pass through, the Ministry of Defense said Tuesday.

The incident is the latest in a string of similar incidents and comes amid tense relations between London and Moscow over the crisis in Ukraine and the inquiry into the death of Russian ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko.

"MoD can confirm 3 Russian ships being monitored by @RoyalNavy HMS Argyll through Channel. No exercises seen," the ministry said on its Twitter feed.

"Russian Udaloy class destroyer Severomorsk returning from Mediterranean with tanker and support ship. Due to leave Channel later."

The Severomorsk, an anti-submarine destroyer, was among four ships which passed through the Channel in November although French authorities denied Russian reports that they were carrying out military exercises.

A Russian warship was also tracked through the Channel in February while the previous month, Britain summoned the Russian ambassador after Tupolev Tu-95 bombers, known as Russian "bears", were found flying close to British airspace.

Somali Shebab Kill Nine in Education Ministry Attack

Somali Shebab Kill Nine in Education Ministry Attack | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Somalia's Al-Qaida-linked Shebab militants on Tuesday blasted their way into the higher education ministry with a car bomb before storming the building, killing nine people.

Police and witnesses said the car bomb caused a huge explosion which allowed the gunmen to force their way into the fortified building.

"One policeman and eight civilians were killed in the attack, and a dozen others were wounded including a senior education ministry official," police officer Mohamed Dahir said.

Police regained control of the building after around an hour-long attack, which began when "a car loaded with explosives rammed the gate," Dahir added.

Witness Idil Malim said bodies of those killed and wounded lay around the complex.

"There were several people lying dead at the scene," he said.

Shebab spokesman Abdulaziz Abu Musab claimed responsibility, boasting that their gunmen had been in "fully in control" of the ministry, as well as entering a neighboring building housing the oil ministry.

As government forces retook the compound and fighting ended the fate of the gunmen was not immediately clear; whether they had been killed in the assault or had managed to escape.

The building is in the K5 district of the capital, which has been hit by a string of similar attacks in recent months.

The Shebab rebels stage regular attacks in the capital as part of their fight against the country's internationally-backed government and African Union forces supporting it.

A car bombing to force entry into fortified buildings followed by an armed raid has become a trademark tactic of the hardline Islamists.

Somalia has been unstable since the collapse of Siad Barre's hardline regime in 1991, and the country's new government is being supported by a 22,000-strong African Union force that includes troops from Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.

Shebab fighters have carried out a string of revenge attacks in neighboring countries, notably Kenya and Uganda, in response to their participation in the AU force.

It carried out its deadliest attack yet earlier this month, when Shebab gunmen massacred 148 people in a day-long siege of a university in Kenya's northeastern town of Garissa.

The attack on the university was the Shebab's bloodiest massacre and Kenya's worst since the 1998 bombing of the U.S. embassy in Nairobi.

The Shebab later warned of a "long, gruesome war" unless Kenya withdraws its troops from Somalia, as well as warning the government in Mogadishu it would continue to attack them on home soil.

Shebab fighters also carried out the Westgate shopping mall attack in Nairobi in September 2013, a four-day siege which left at least 67 people dead.

Last month Shehab gunmen in Mogadishu stormed the fortified Maka al Mukarama hotel, used by politicians, diplomats and businessmen.

Despite losing significant territory in recent months the Shebab group, whose name means "youth" in Arabic, still manages to launch frequent attacks as part of its fight to overthrow the government.

Last week the government in Mogadishu issued bounties for 11 top leaders of the Shebab, with $250,000 offered for the extremist's chief, Ahmad Umar.

IS Loses Ground in Syria's Yarmuk Camp

IS Loses Ground in Syria's Yarmuk Camp | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Jihadists from the Islamic State group have lost ground to Palestinian fighters in Syria's Yarmuk camp, Palestinian officials and a resident said on Tuesday.

IS fighters have retreated from much of the territory they seized in the camp in southern Damascus after entering it on April 1, a resident using the pseudonym Samer told AFP.

"We haven't even seen any Daesh members in over three days," he said, using the Arabic acronym for IS.

The withdrawal was confirmed by an official from a pro-Syrian regime Palestinian faction fighting against IS inside the camp.

"There are intermittent but ongoing clashes between Palestinian factions and IS," said Khaled Abdel Majid, head of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front, adding that IS had withdrawn from most of the neighborhoods it previously controlled.

IS fighters were now confined largely to the southwest of the camp, with Palestinian factions -- both pro- and anti-Syrian regime -- controlling most of the east and north of the camp, Palestinian sources said.

Syrian regime forces are stationed outside the camp and have maintained a tight siege around it, but Abdel Majid said the Palestinian factions had established a "joint operations room" with government forces.

A Syrian security source in Damascus also said "the Palestinian factions have made progress and were able to recapture key points... and the operation is ongoing."

The Palestinian forces inside the camp include the Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis group that is opposed to the regime and has fought alongside Syrian rebels.

Fighters from the Palestinian Fatah and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine groups are not participating, Palestinian officials said.

Both groups have said they want Yarmuk to remain neutral and do not want to be seen as taking a side in the conflict between Syria's government and opposition forces.

IS's advance rattled residents and the Syrian government, with the country's reconciliation minister saying a military operation would be necessary to expel the jihadists.

The extremist group's entrance into Yarmuk plunged the district into further hardship, exacerbating already-dire conditions caused by a government siege lasting more than 18 months.

Once home to some 160,000 Palestinian and some Syrian residents, Yarmuk's population had shrunk to just 18,000 by the time IS entered the camp.

According to Palestinian sources, some 2,500 civilians have managed to escape the camp, but aid agencies and the United Nations have warned of a serious humanitarian crisis and urged all parties to allow the creation of a humanitarian corridor.

More than 50 of the girls abducted by militant Islamists in Nigeria last year were seen alive three weeks ago, a woman has told the BBC.
She saw the girls in the north-eastern Gwoza town before the Boko Haram militants were driven out of there by regional forces.
Boko Haram sparked global outrage when it seized more than 219 girls from Chibok town a year ago.
The US, China and other foreign powers promised to help find the girls.
However, the girls have never been traced, and little has been heard of them since they were taken from their boarding school.
The whereabouts of the remaining girls is not clear.

Hacked French TV station admits new 'blunder' over password

Hacked French TV station admits new 'blunder' over password | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
French TV5Monde television channel, which suffered a major hack by self-proclaimed Islamic State militants this week, on Friday admitted an Internet security 'blunder' Thursday during a programme discussing the cyber-attack.

The gaffe came during a report by fellow TV channel France 2 on the attack on TV5Monde, which authorities say was likely a "terrorist act".

A TV5 Monde journalist being questioned was in front of a window where several sheets of paper were hanging. On one of them could be seen a password for the TV5Monde YouTube account.

"We don't hide the fact that this is a blunder," the channel's director general Yves Bigot told AFP.

However he stressed that the codes were displayed on screen only after the cyber-attack which happened overnight Wednesday when hackers managed to shut down transmissions and hijacked the channel's website and social networks.

TV5 Monde's digital services director Helene Zemmour explained that after the hacking attack the channel had needed to quickly hand out new temporary online access codes.

Twitter suspends 10,000 pro-ISIL accounts in just one day in mass crackdown on 'violent threats'

Twitter suspends 10,000 pro-ISIL accounts in just one day in mass crackdown on 'violent threats' | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Activists and experts who monitor the Twitter traffic of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and its supporters noticed something odd last week when many accounts suddenly disappeared.

The activists exchanged messages about the missing accounts, suspecting they had been suspended.

On Thursday, a Twitter representative confirmed what some were saying and put a number on it.

The social media network’s violations department suspended approximately 10,000 accounts April 2 “for tweeting violent threats,” the representative said.

It was impossible to independently verify the assertion because Twitter’s data is not public. But it would be the biggest single mass purge by Twitter of accounts linked to ISIL, also known as ISIS, which some experts believe has as many as 90,000 affiliated accounts.

The suspensions came against a backdrop of rising criticism that Twitter has allowed ISIL to exploit the social network to spread propaganda, glorify violence and seek recruits.

Twitter previously acknowledged suspending as many as 2,000 ISIL-linked accounts per week in recent months.

The Twitter representative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for security reasons, attributed the surge of suspensions in part to a widely publicized effort by ISIL opponents, including some hacking groups and online vigilantes, to expose suspect accounts and report them as violators.

“We received a large amount of reports,” the representative said.

Under Twitter’s rules, an account can be reported to the violations department under a protocol explained on its website. Twitter bans the promotion of violence but also is committed to free speech in a system that carries approximately 500 million messages a day in multiple languages.

While some anti-ISIL activists said the suspensions would make it more difficult to monitor the militant group’s activities, others welcomed the news and said it vindicated their efforts to deny Islamic State a social media platform.

France - ‘Racist’ and ‘obscene’ French cakes banned from display

France - ‘Racist’ and ‘obscene’ French cakes banned from display | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
A French court has banned the display of “obscene” cupcakes wrought in black chocolate from a pastry shop near Nice in southeastern France, after a watchdog described them as "racist".

The "God" and "Goddess" cupcakes, which are stuffed with ganache and topped with the chocolate figures of a plump man and woman with pink lips and protruding genitalia, have been on sale in the shop in the town of Grasse for about 15 years.

A court in Nice last week ordered that they be removed from the shop's window display, saying the cakes showed "two people of colour in grotesque and obscene attitudes" and that the pastries “violate human dignity, especially that of the African people or people of African descent".

But the court said it had found no "malicious will" on the part of the baker and that the shop could continue making and selling the cakes.

The town's mayor was instructed to ensure the cakes were removed from the display immediately, with a penalty of 500 euros for each day's delay.

It also ordered the town to pay a fine of 1,000 euros to the Platform for Reflection and Action against Anti-Black Racism (CRAN), which called for the cupcakes to be banned earlier in March after a complaint from a resident.

Baker Yannick Tavolaro said he makes the cupcakes only on weekends, and often to order.

In a defamation complaint against CRAN, he insisted that there was nothing racist about the cakes and that using black chocolate was technically necessary to model the figures, which he said were cartoons.

CRAN president Louis-Georges Tin said he was "delighted" with the court ruling, adding it was a warning to the rest of France.

Paris resolves row over Christian ads in metro

Paris resolves row over Christian ads in metro | UNITED CRUSADERS AGAINST ISLAMIFICATION OF THE WEST | Scoop.it
Controversial decision to ban ads from display reversed

Paris subway has come under fire Sunday over its refusal to display an ad with the mention "Christians of the East," leading it to reverse the controversial decision.

"The new poster for the 14 June concert of the choir of priests will include the words 'benefiting the Christians of the East," state-owned RATP firm that operates the subway stated in a press release.

RATP had earlier ordered the group's producers to take off the banner, pointing in a statement issued last week to the public service's requirement for neutrality "in the context of an armed conflict abroad."

Jean-Michel Di Falco Leandri, the bishop who created "The Priests," told AFP that Metrobus had previously explained the ban on the banner was due to "the religious nature of the mention 'Christians of the East'," and the ad was published without it.

France is a deeply secular country where the state and religion are strictly separated.

But the RATP's censorship move has nevertheless created a stir, with some netizens pointing out that while mentioning "Christians" appears to be banned, the subway operator allowed an ad promoting an extra-marital affairs website.

"One must not confuse secularity, which we respect, with secular extremism which becomes a grotesque and ridiculous witch hunt," Di Falco Leandri said.

CHREDO, a French group that aims to raise awareness of the plight of Christians in areas such as the Middle East -- where they are currently being persecuted by jihadist groups -- has since asked a court to rule on the controversy and a hearing will take place on Wednesday.

France's upper house Senate, meanwhile, has also announced it will audition those at the RATP responsible for the decision not to run the ads with the banner.
