Scottish News, News Scotland - Politics, Referendum, Economy, Culture and intelligent opinion | Newsnet Scotland, uniquely Scottish (BBC Scotland FOUND GUILTY of manipulating the facts to suit their anti Independence agenda
Jim Arnott's insight:

There should be a full and proper review of BBC Scotland's news blackout on the clarification given by the then Irish European Minister Lucinda Creighton to the misinterpretation of her views by the BBC's Raymond Buchanan. Lucinda Creighton complained her words had been "misconstrued", "spun" and "manipulated". BBC Scotland have given no cover whatsoever

Newsnet Scotland can also reveal that, despite not challenging a claim by the complainant that the BBC employed a news blackout of Ms Creighton's emails to Nicola Sturgeon and Newsnet Scotland, the Trust refused to uphold a claim that the BBC broke guidelines on impartiality.

I am sure BBC Scotland's impartiality on independence for Scotland will come back to haunt them.

You’ve probably guessed by now that I’m no economist. When I listen to the conflicting stream of drivel so many of them spout, I’m proud of that. However, I am a thinking voter and like to judge for myself in as far as I can with out a BSc. I’ve also learned to think of Paul Daniels whenever the British Treasury tries to tell me something. It’s amazing how they make things appear and disappear at will while wearing a fixed smile.

Voters in Scotland will go to the polls on 18 September 2014, and will be asked the "yes/no" question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?
Jim Arnott's insight:

Aye right..Just like a Labour MP brought in the 40% rule in the 1979 Referendum and then when a majority of Scottish voters voted Yes for devolution the conservative government of Margaret Thatcher did nothing about giving the people of Scotland the devolved administration they voted for.

Dont believe a word the unionists say about what they will, or will not, do in the event of a No vote. To be taken in a second time would be utter folly.

Vote Yes in the 2014 Referendum on independence for Scotland.

Tavish Scott: Spain sure to go fishing after a yes

Tavish Scott: Spain sure to go fishing after a yes | Unionist Shenanigans | Scoop.it
FOR any who turn their back on the traditional turkey next week fish is an alternative. It is best when fresh, lightly cooked and not smothered in a stultifying sauce.

Peter A Bell's curator insight, December 19, 2013 12:32 PM

Were any still in doubt that Tavish Scott is a slavering buffoon following his irresponsible dalliance with the politics of partition, this doubt will have been dispelled on reading his daft notion that Scotland's independence will magically mean more fish in the sea.

With this idiocy in mind, we may then more appropriately assess the credibility of Tavish Scott's latest work on behalf of Project Fear - his scare story about Spain taking over Scotland's fishing grounds if we vote Yes.

What strikes me most about this is the way the Tumshie automatically assumes that Scotland will be powerless in negotiations with the EU and that we would be obliged to accede to whatever demands Madrid makes. This is yet another manifestation of the British nationalist's innate contempt for Scotland.

As a unionist, Tavish Scott is quite incapable of regarding Scotland's fishing grounds as a bargaining chip in the hands of the Scottish Government. Something which, along with renewables potential and much else, would strengthen the bargaining power of Scotland's negotiators.

Just as the oil is a benefit to Britain but a liability to an independent Scotland, so to Tavish, as to all British nationalists, a seat at the top table is only a valuable advantage so long as that seat is occupied by a representative of the British state. The default assumption is that Scotland simply couldn't cope. Norway does well as a small country negotiating on its own behalf. But Tavish simply cannot conceive of Scotland aspiring to do likewise.

Being as shallow-minded as British nationalists tend to be, Tavish misses another point. Member states in the EU do not stand alone. They form groups. Blocs using their combined negotiating power to pursue some common interest. Tavish Scott, blinded by his British nationalist ideology and his sneering contempt for Scotland, sees no possibility of Scotland being part of any such grouping. He envisages Scotland powerless and alone, shunned by the rest of Europe which he imagines standing in solidarity with the British state's petty desire to seek revenge for the perceived slight of a vote to restore Scotland's rightful constitutional status.

It simply doesn't occur to the clown that Scotland and Norway would have a shred interest in protecting North Sea fishing grounds.

Look closely at Tavish Scott. Ask yourself whether this is the sort of person you want to empower by voting No.

Today’s special referendum supplement in the Herald gives another run-out to the well-worn “women don’t like Alex Salmond” line much beloved of the Scottish press. It’s rare that a month goes by without some mention somewhere of the fairer sex’s supposed dislike for the First Minister’s somewhat gallus nature, and today’s example is very much of its type.

All the small print | Unionist Shenanigans | Scoop.it

Ask anyone who knows about such things and they’ll tell you that not only is the headline the most important aspect of an article, but often it’s the only part of it that people read at all. It’s a fact worth bearing in mind when you scan the media coverage of the main Scottish politics story of today.

Via Peter A Bell
Jim Arnott's insight:

Barnet may only be "safe" until 2015, Even if it remains, and that's a bit if in my opinion, Westminster will find ways of slashing the Scottish budget by about £4bn (yes billion), All three Westminster parties are commited to austerity and £4bn seems to be a figure that is being bandied about by all three parties.

I think it is important to know that every detail within an article is important. If you only read the title, all you know is the topic. But if you dive into the concepts of the topic you can figure out what it is all about and give an opinion on it.
