The Battle Is For The Customer Interface

The Battle Is For The Customer Interface | Unified Communications by a non-techie | Scoop.it

Uber, the world's largest taxi company owns no vehicles, Facebook the world’s most popular media owner creates no content, Alibaba, the most valuable retailer, has no inventory. And Airbnb, the world’s largest accommodation provider, owns no real estate. Something interesting is happening.

Karine Vialleton's insight:

Time is over, when the supposed best strategy for a company was to own and control the entire chain. Now companies that have developed the most clever interface with customers seem to be making the most money. How will old giants fight back ? Because they will, for sure, want to regain control over the customer interface.

Quelle boite ! Thumb up, folks

Changing Skills for IT Professionals for Successful UC Deployments

Changing Skills for IT Professionals for Successful UC Deployments | Unified Communications by a non-techie | Scoop.it
As telecom and data technologies converge through the development of VoIP solutions, two technology areas are 'smashed' together, and many of us have learned that the structure and approach to designing routing tables in routers was the same as routing tables for voice calls in PBXs
Karine Vialleton's insight:

The author, Roberta J. Fox, elaborates on the new skills required for Corporate IT staff to ensure success in the deployment and the maintenance/RUN of UC solutions. I believe she's right, straight to the point. Says R. Fox: "Real, sustainable, value of an internal IT team, in the future, will not be in their deep technology knowledge, but in how well they understand how the business runs today, how well they can manage their various service providers that deliver and support technologies required by the company, and their ability to recognize inherent business benefits of new technologies as they become available."

Installed-Software-as-a-Service (ISAAS): The Next Software Packaging? | OpenVIew Blog

Karine Vialleton's insight:

A few cloud application companies are starting to pitch enterprise customers that have built their own private clouds (mostly on VMWare from what I can tell) on the idea of moving the vendor’s stack onto the enterprise private cloud.

One lesson learnt by Alcatel-Lucent has been well applied: when your UC apps are vendor agnostic, and based on VMware, you've got a winning product. That should sell high !

Numergy serait en quête d'un repreneur

Numergy serait en quête d'un repreneur | Unified Communications by a non-techie | Scoop.it

Quel gachis !

ToIP UCaaS VoIP SIP Trunking
Karine Vialleton's insight:

Welcome to the game, Arcstar. A suivre.

Schillace talks the intersection between collaboration and storage, data center scaling, one-day release cycles and where enterprise software is going.
Karine Vialleton's insight:

If you control your R&D, then Schillace's position in favour of daily releases looks like a winning tactics to reduce chances for bad code to be put on the market: "Schillace said that he moved Box releases from weekly releases to daily and even twice a day... You're more willing to experiment and more willing to wait until the code is really ready"

"Longer dev times mean that bad code is sometimes pushed out because the next release may not be for another three months"
