Winning at social media marketing is all about sharing great content.

Unfortunately, content discovery is the most time-consuming of social media responsibilities. You scour the internet, jump from this blog to that white paper, then try to organize all that material into some semblance of order.

I'm a big Disney nut - I can't wait to see this. In Theaters Nov 7From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Inventor Of Email: People Didn't Want To Credit A 'Dark-Skinned Immigrant Kid'

Inventor Of Email: People Didn't Want To Credit A 'Dark-Skinned Immigrant Kid' | Understanding The Science of Art, People, Business, and Creativity | Scoop.it

V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai was 14 years old when he developed the technology we now know as email. But despite having received "official recognition" of his creation by the U.S. government, some still question whether he was the veritable founder.

Ayyadurai's former colleague Robert Field explained the discrepancy and defended Ayyadurai in a blog on The Huffington Post. According to Field, "multi-billion dollar defense company" Raytheon BBN Technologies generated "their entire brand ... based on claims of having 'invented email,'" then unleashed a PR campaign to "discredit email's origins" as well as Shiva's claim to having invented it.

Ayyadurai explained in a HuffPost Live interview on Thursday that he thinks these allegations stem from people who are both economically and racially prejudiced....

John H Drew Jr.'s insight:

I don't know what to call this but in all reality it is very necessary to protect ones ideas  - regardless of age or nationality. 14 is young and he should have been warned about theft (he needed a lawyer). His idea(s) should have been patented and licensed to him. It's very hard to prove anything if his name is not attached to the "intellectual property".

The Gate Films launches dedicated animation arm: Pen Animation The Drum She said: “I've always been passionate about animation and I am extremely excited to lead this new venture.
John H Drew Jr.'s insight:
The Gate Films has continued its expansion with the creation of Pen Animation, a dedicated animation arm. The division, based in Edinburgh, will focus on producing animated commercials, music videos and innovative online content, and will initially be staffed by a team of four. Explaining the move, Simon Lewis, CEO at The Gate Films, said: “We’ve had an in-house team of animators in Edinburgh for several years, working with clients from Creative Scotland to Jura Whisky, but have noticed a gap in the market recently for the kind of director roster we've now assembled. “Animation advertising has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and we’ve seen a surge in popularity and demand for it. “It made perfect sense to invest in a specialist branch of the company here in Scotland and Pen will play a key part in our expansion plans as we look to continue our growth over the next year.” The animation arm will be led by Victoria Watson.

Adobe's marketing cloud goes real-time, adds app store, boosts search ads 25% - VentureBeat, ChiefMarTec | Understanding The Science of Art, People, Business, and Creativity | Scoop.it

Intermediate/ Digest...

Tomorrow Adobe is announcing new features that will enable marketers to react immediately to customer or prospect actions, an app store to make integrating with hundreds of new marketing technologies simple and fast, and more, including a new Media Optimizer that, it says, improves search ad effectiveness by 25 percent.

Adobe is also adding an app-store like exchange as a new core service to its marketing cloud, which it just significantly updated in March. The Exchange had been in beta and is now generally available as a core service across all marketing cloud components.

Media Optimizer consists of predictive modeling algorithms that use big data to predict campaign performance, campaign analysis via Adobe Analytics, remarketing capability, the new real-time campaign management features, and a new retail advertising optimization tool.

From ChiefMarTec:

They’re launching with more than 150 apps in their exchange, which has apparently already been leveraged by more than 1,200 major brand customers worldwide in an extensive beta program.

This is not a we do everything you would ever want in digital marketing position. This is a position that acknowledges that third-party innovation is a critical part of digital marketing — that a 1,000 innovators of marketing technology can be an incredible source of strength. This is a we can be the foundation of everything you would ever want in digital marketing position.

The Hidden Advantages Of Being The Least Experienced Person In The Room

The Hidden Advantages Of Being The Least Experienced Person In The Room | Understanding The Science of Art, People, Business, and Creativity | Scoop.it

The new guy gets little respect. He’s given the jobs no one else wants, and is clearly the low man on the totem pole. He’s not always valued, after all … what does he know? He’s new.

But new has qualities that experience does not bring, says Roger L. Beahm, professor of marketing at Wake Forest University and executive director of the school’s Center for Retail Innovation: “Experience is like having a larger rear view mirror that lets you look further back in the past,” he says. “We tend to think the past can provide a vision into the future but the past is not a good predictor. In fact, if you want innovation, it’s the dead opposite.”

Instead of defaulting to the most experienced person in a company, leadership should welcome the opinions of the inexperienced. “They’ve earned that right; you’ve screened them or brought them in,” says Beahm. “Don’t reject their offhand ideas without allowing them a chance to express their thinking.”

John H Drew Jr.'s insight:

“Ideas are like flowers; they’re fresh in the morning and wilt by the afternoon,” says Beahm. “You can’t count on experience to sustain what will happen next.”

If you're the greenest person in the room, shift your perspective and take pride in having the most realistic, idea-generating voice.

John H Drew Jr.'s insight:
Back in the early 1990s, Frank Miller was done with Hollywood. Only Hollywood wasn’t quite done with him. The influential graphic novelist put aside cartooning in the late 1980s to work on the two “Robocop” sequels. It didn’t go well. “I learned that writing a screenplay is much like making a very pretty fire hydrant with a lot of dogs waiting for it,” Miller says, sitting in his Hell’s Kitchen studio. “I left the process not wanting to work in Hollywood ever again.”

How Facebook's Instagram integration could rock the industry | Inside Facebook

How Facebook's Instagram integration could rock the industry | Inside Facebook | Understanding The Science of Art, People, Business, and Creativity | Scoop.it

According to John McDermott at Digiday, Instagram is conducting a test (yes, for now it’s just a test) with Mercedes-Benz that allows them to target Facebook users who previously saw one of its Instagram ads. While this development is eye-opening in and of itself, as it gives hints into Facebook plans on returning their $1B investment, it also shows Facebook’s commitment to transforming how advertising not only can coexist with social media, but thrive and break into new levels of adoption.

What stands out the most to me is how inherent behavioral characteristics seen on both Facebook and Instagram are being aligned with their natural fit in the conversion funnel. As noted by McDermott, Instagram’s product naturally promotes behavior more conducive to the top of the funnel, where brand awareness comes into play. If Instagram is committed to preserving the user experience that allowed them to break 200 million users, it behooves them to preserve this characteristic of their product and not to “forcefully” incorporate more direct-response elements like call-to-action buttons, etc....

Via Jeff Domansky
John H Drew Jr.'s insight:

Facebook has just finished a deal to acquire mobile photo sharing app Instagram for approximately $1 billion in cash and stock. Instagram will remain an independently branded standalone app that’s separate from Facebook, but the services will increase their ties to each other. The transaction should go through this quarter pending some standard closing procedures.

Last year, documents for a standalone Facebook mobile photo sharing app were attained by TechCrunch. Now it seems Facebook would rather buy Instagram which comes with a built-in community of photographers and photo lovers, while simultaneously squashing a threat to its dominance in photo sharing.

At 27 million registered users on iOS alone, Instagram was increasingly positioning itself as a social network in its own right — not just a photo-sharing app. And it was clear that some users were doing more of the daily sharing actvities on Instagram rather than Facebook’s all-in-one mobile apps, which had to be cluttered with nearly every feature of the desktop site.
