The Nisargadatta Sadhana: Namasmarana: as extolled by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

The Nisargadatta Sadhana: Namasmarana: as extolled by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it
22. The ‘nama’ or name given by the Guru is the name of Parabrahman. Repeatedly calling by this name exposes the Self of the caller. 23. Say the ‘nama’ or name given to you in the mind without speaking but keep meditating on the Self. By and by the knowledge beyond the body would get exposed and you will realize who you are. 24. Keep doing Namasmarana with the insistence that I am the form of the ‘nama’ I am reciting.

Nan Yar? (Who am I?) The Teachings of Sri Ramana | Happiness of Being

Nan Yar? (Who am I?) The Teachings of Sri Ramana | Happiness of Being | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it

What rises in this body as ‘I’, that alone is the mind. If [one] investigates in what place the thought called ‘I’ rises at first in the body, [one] will come to know that [it rises] in the heart [the innermost core of one’s being]. That alone is the birthplace of the mind. Even if [one] remains thinking ‘I, I’, it will take and leave [one] in that place. Of all the thoughts that appear [or arise] in the mind, the thought called ‘I’ alone is the first [primal, basic, original or causal] thought. Only after this rises do other thoughts rise. Only after the first person appears do the second and third persons appear; without the first person the second and third persons do not exist.5

Hans Schulz's insight:

Advanced Mantra, so to speak. You drop any thoughts of mantra and identify with the thoughtless presence that you are.

Hafiz

I Have Learned So Much

I
Have
Learned
So much from God
That I can no longer
Call
Myself

A Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim,
a Buddhist, a Jew.

The Truth has shared so much of Itself
With me

That I can no longer call myself
A man, a woman, an angel,
Or even a pure
Soul.

Love has
Befriended Hafiz so completely
It has turned to ash
And freed
Me

Of every concept and image

my mind has ever known.

go beyond experience

go beyond experience | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it
In nature nothing is at stand-still, everything pulsates, appears and disappears. Heart, breath, digestion, sleep and waking—birth and death everything comes and goes in waves. Rhythm, periodicity, harmonious alternation of extremes is the rule.

Incomplete Enlightenment – Q.333

Incomplete Enlightenment – Q.333 | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it
Q: As I understand, the sense of “I” (distinguished from the ultimate I/Self)  is the source of “ignorance”. “Ignorance” leads to “the fear”, which inspires us to attempt to find “enlightenment”.

The Nisargadatta Sadhana: A simple method to abide in the ‘I am’

The Nisargadatta Sadhana: A simple method to abide in the ‘I am’ | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it

“Just hold on to the knowledge ‘I am’, your sense of ‘being’ or ‘presence’. This feeling that ‘you are’ is the God in you, let it be you guide or Guru, there is nothing else to be done.”

Thoughts are formless but their ‘presence’ is very much there. This ‘being’ is ‘Nama’, the name of God which I which I strongly recommend you all to recite.”

Hans Schulz's insight:

Pradeep has collected so many sayings of Nisargadatta. You will find gems all over.

Now, what is meditation?

Now, what is meditation? | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it
M:  There is no other practice to be done, except to understand (that is, telling yourself with conviction) that it is this knowledge that you are which is itself the knowledge, and not the way you are using this knowledge at the individual level. So the knowledge itself is the one that exists and must remain pure in and as that knowledge; and you must remain apart from it. That knowledge that you are has mistakenly identified itself with the body and so you are thinking of yourself as the body. But you are the “knowledge.” Strengthen your conviction that you are the knowledge, this Beingness, and not the body. V: How can one do so? M: By meditation, like dhyana. And dhyana means the knowledge must remain in meditation with the knowledge. Now, what is meditation? Meditation is the knowledge “I am” remaining in that knowledge.

as if you were pure awareness | Understanding Mantra | Scoop.it
The body and the mind are only symptoms of ignorance, of misapprehension. Behave as if you were pure awareness, bodiless and mindless, spaceless and timeless, beyond 'where' and 'when' and 'how'. Dwell on it, think of it, learn to accept its reality.
