Direct Marketing More Relevant Than Ever

Direct Marketing More Relevant Than Ever | Understanding integration. The power of ideas; integration across all media. | Scoop.it
Burgeoning digital channels and new avenues of customer insight give marketers new opportunities to build affinity and sales through direct marketing.
Jordan's insight:

This article is simple, it concentrates on the the power of ideas; integration across all media, it also expresses the value of being able to integrate across all mediums and different forms the marketing communication mix.

Successful marketers today are reaching more and more customers directly, on a personal level, than ever before.

This basically hi lights the relevance of having a close relationship to the consumer, from the brand. The closer this is, the stronger the customers brand loyalty wil be.

I perosnally believe that their is no way near enough face to face integration with marketers creating brand awreness and integrating with the consumer, there is a strong focus on using mediums such as online, tv, newspapers and billboards. This has its reasons, as it is more timely, cheaper, relatively consistent. If consumers are reached face to face, i know myself as a consumer having a direct face to face will persuade me more to purchase a product and, becaus of this i am more like to re purchase the same product or service.

The article reveals how much easier direct marketing has become in today’s society, as it works hand in hand with the convenience of consumer engagement. Being able to directly interact with consumers online has opened up multiple opportunities, allowing marketers to reach more and more consumers on a personal level than ever before.
Through the use of online blogs, tweets and pages on facebook for example, consumers are able to directly interact with a brand, expressing thoughts and feelings about particular products. This allows the brand itself to recognize existing and potential problems, using effective feedback from consumers to make the necessary changes to that product. Executed successfully, direct online interaction helps to create a strong emotional bond between the consumer and brand, increasing brand equity.
As mentioned, the most effective direct marketing promotion for consumers these days is anything that makes life easier and more convenient, such as smart phone notifications, making it key for the brand to keep on top of updates and also up to date with the latest technology.

American Idol has created an engaged audience that uses multiple mediums; I can't think of a brand that has created a higher level of user engagement and a successful IMC plan. Thank you for sharing this example of IMC!

Jordan's insight:

American idol utilise integrated marketing communication effectively to build strong brand awareness and equity, and most importantly good rapport with the market on an individualistic basis. Based on the article it is easy to gain a better understanding of integration Within IMC. This is basically how big companies/ businesses such a as American idol interact within the market by using different mediums such as SMS, email, online, and just recently a new app, where the market are able to vote, back ground profiling, online show related content, bloggingtweeter. the market have a direct influence as to who goes home, and are important to the success of American idol. A great example is after a person is voted, the receive a text saying what they "think of a contestant". Partnerships are created and the consistency of the show generates a loyal fan base, with a strong brand equity.

Parl Harrington has brought forward a very interesting article on how brands practices IMC as a very effective measure for engaging the target audience through different available medias. The article views that how American Idol did used IMC for integration and engaging its audience for making it a grand success. It provided its audience with a vast choice to vote for the contestants through different social mediums like cellular networks, facebook, twitter and many other web portals. This single article focuses on many different dimensions of Integrated Marketing Communications.

What was interesting was that they mentioned that they receive both negative and positive feedback via social media, but most were entertaining. Even when there are negative comments made, the audience is encouraged to express their views, as interacting with the website and posting comments is the main focus. This article stated that American Idol began in 2002, and when we think about what social media was like back then compared to now, there has been dramatic changes, and the show has moved with that change integrating avenues for social interaction through the social media. Social media is the key the show to create a more personal connection with their audience.

American Idol is the perfect example when it comes to the use of effective intergrated marketing communication (IMC). This is a good choice of article, Finau. Not only is the entertainment factor the key to it's success, but one of the main reasons American Idol has top ratings is because of it's clever marketing strategies. Like Savanna mentioned, the way it communicates to audiences and allows interaction and viewers to participate through voting, helps to generate interest and keep the attention of loyal viewers. It's Facebook, app, website, Twitter and other social media platforms all help to engage with viewers and to keep the experience of watching the show fun and almost addictive.
