The Hardest Word: Why Saying No Is Key To Your Long-Term Success | Uncle J's UX | Scoop.it
It was pretty much a typical Friday at Ogilvy Toronto. The whole creative department was crazy busy, when another big project dropped out of the sky. Scanning the stressed-out teams overdue for a decent weekend break, this was not the best news ever.
Jonathan Culling's insight:

A must-read for anyone who's ever regretted saying "yes" at work.

User research is a great way to define a base for decision making, reduce risks and adjust the design compass early in a creative process. But for many companies this phase is something unfamiliar, and it requires a lot of resources, social skills and planning... If you don't decide to conduct it remotely by using a modern web service like Usabilla. It's cheap, fast and easy to learn. Be careful though, all user segments won't be able to express themselves completely transparent online and emotional responses will be limited. But for the right projects, sure I think remote user research can be a valuable complement to in-person data gathering regarding both quantity and efficiency. Here is an easy to read set of guidelines in order to get the most out of it.

Once again, with this article, Robert shares his wisdom about user experience based on his then 13 years of work in the field. From his conclusions, it is important to note that we are in a time when user experience work is revered because we are finally focusing on the user beyond the goals of using a digital product, but also the message that a product sends out to the user based on how they experience it. Companies have been designing products to delight their customers for a long time now. The difference lately is the care that we put into that element of "delight" and how clearly and much faster we can deliver it to the customer. May the best user experience win!

Customer Experience: Is It The Chicken or Egg? - Forbes

Customer Experience: Is It The Chicken or Egg? - Forbes | Uncle J's UX | Scoop.it
Customer Experience is a movement. In many ways it reminds me of the rise of the Quality movement in the 1950s spearheaded by Deming. I just wish people would stop attaching ‘management’ to the end of ‘customer experience’.
