On February 22, Santiago Vidales presented at the Indiana University Spanish and Portuguese department graduate student conference called Dialogos 11.
His paper sought to present the contemporary urban poetry of David Aniñir, a Mapuche poet from Santiago de Chile. His book of poems Mapurbe venganza a raíz, has been very well received by critics. In Santiago Vidales's words: "What I find important in Mapurbe is its ability to dialogue with multiple traditions both within the indigenous literary tradition and the Latin American poetic tradition as a whole. I received good feedback on Aniñir's avantgarde style of writing and his postmodern discourse. My main aim in presenting his work was to promulgate these wonderful poems in the US."
