One of those waiting with abated breath when Finance Minister, Maria Kiwanuka was reading her Budget Speech last month was Dr. Tom Okurut, the Executive Director at the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). For Okurut had applied for at least Ushs4bn that the body responsible for ensuring Uganda’s environment stays to standard, needed to raise capacity in time to handle the inevitable oil waste.

Tullow Oil PLC (TLW.LN), China's Cnooc Ltd. (CEO) and French oil company Total SA (TOT) could invest up to $5 billion building pipelines that would form a regional oil export hub to transport crude discovered in Uganda and Kenya to world markets, Tullow said Wednesday.
