Tribune : Le retail à la veille d'une mutation radicale | ubimedia and ubiquitous internet | Scoop.it

Sous l'influence de la convergence on et off line, le retail devrait connaître une véritable révolution, probablement la plus importante depuis l'arrivée de la grande distribution ! Ce n'est pas pour autant la mort du 'point de vente'.

Answer (1 of 36): I doubt that porting social media software to something you wear on your face is going to take off. There are a lot of other applications that seem more exciting to me.

The coming automatic, freaky, contextual world and why we’re writing a book about it — Scobleizer

The coming automatic, freaky, contextual world and why we’re writing a book about it — Scobleizer | ubimedia and ubiquitous internet | Scoop.it

A new world is coming. It’s scary. Freaky. Over the freaky line, if you will. But it is coming. Investors like Ron Conway and Marc Andreessen are investing in it. Companies from Google to startups you’ve never heard of, like Wovyn or Highlight, are building it. With more than a couple of new ones already on the way that you’ll hear about over the next six months.
First, the trends. We’re seeing something new happen because of:
1. Proliferation of always-connected sensors.
2. New kinds of cloud-based databases.
3. New kinds of contextual SDKs.
4. A maturing in social data that nearly everyone is participating in.
5. Wearable computers and sensors like the Nike FuelBand, FitBit, and soon the Google Glasses.

Super. Sight: An 8-Minute Augmented Reality Journey That Makes Google Glass Look Tame - Forbes

Super. Sight: An 8-Minute Augmented Reality Journey That Makes Google Glass Look Tame - Forbes | ubimedia and ubiquitous internet | Scoop.it
Sight, a short, science fiction film by Israeli student filmmakers is a brilliant take on the emerging world of augmented reality (AR)—the technology behind Google's goofy glasses.

The video comes out at an interesting time for AR, just after Google’s “Glass Explorers” have received their welcome letters and amid suggestions through patent activity that Apple may be at work on its own “iGlasses.” What May-raz and Lazo have done is to take consumer AR to its logical, and terrifying, conclusion based on what is happening in the present moment.

Their ideas are not wholly original, but they are beautifully executed. A post about the film on VentureBeat points out the similarity of many aspects of the scenario to a particular Star Trek: Original Series episode. And in terms of Google Glass, Lazo wrote in an email to VentureBeat, “The Google Glass video just came out about a day or two after we started work on Sight. It was pretty cool; it kind of gave us an affirmation that we’re on the right path.”

Showrooming : l'appli Amazon à reconnaissance d'image en réalité augmentée... ça va faire mal au commerce !

Showrooming : l'appli Amazon à reconnaissance d'image en réalité augmentée... ça va faire mal au commerce ! | ubimedia and ubiquitous internet | Scoop.it

Google opens code for building interactive experiences in physical spaces | ubimedia and ubiquitous internet | Scoop.it

The framework, which is called Interactive Spaces, is distributed under the permissive Apache license and is available for download from a Mercurial repository hosted on Google Code. The search giant announced the new framework in a post on its official open source software blog.

Interactive Spaces is implemented primarily in Java, but it has a scripting bridge that supports JavaScript and Python. The framework provides a high-level architecture for building "activities" that respond to events in a room..
