Wolfeboro Police Commissioner Robert Copeland, who recently acknowledged using a racial slur while talking about President Barack Obama, has resigned, according to WMUR and the Washington Post.

Tyler Campbell's insight:

Q4. Week 4
Now the police Commissioner of New Hampshire  who had previously refused to apologize for a racist remark aimed at president Barack Obama now resigns due to the remarks.

People were furious prior to his resignation, and they were demanding he resign and apologize. Even Governor Mitt Romney  had spoke out about his remark. Being a police commissioner, his actions were unprofessional, and he should have known the outcome if he racially slured any race.

Donald Sterling digs deeper hole with repulsive CNN interview | SI.com | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
You kept expecting one of Donald Sterling's handlers to walk on the set of the stomach-turning, head-scratching, jaw-dropping interview he was giving to Anderson Cooper, call a halt to everything and gently lead the 80-year-old Clippers owner away to some quiet place. That would have been the wise, not to mention humane, thing to do. Either that, or surely
Tyler Campbell's insight:

Qt.4 Week 2
(One Response done already)
Donald Sterling about a week after the leaked conversation between he and his mixed (mexican and black) mistress, comes out and attacks Magic Johnson saying this such as he is jealous of Magic, because he gets all the ladies. He also says things along the line attacking the fact that Magic Johnson has HIV, calling him a man who never gives back to his "own kind". In a leaked message Sterling has been cought saying that he would say anything to a woman just to have sex with her, multiple times this man has admited to paying women for sex, BUT then he comes and says that Magic Johnson sleeps with every woman he sees, and just dogs him.

This is just disgusting. I don't know why the NBA didn't remove him from being an owner earlier, they knew he was  racist before this but they chose too keep him around. Finally they chose to bann him from ALL NBA games for life, and is suspended as an owner untill they can take him to court and remove him legaly. There are also rumors that this mans wife is about to divorce him. Why would you say anything so profound being a man of his status? Anything you say when you're famous is bound to blow up, and this man speaks whats on his mind but its costing him everything hes got.

Supreme Court: Can Florida execute 'mentally retarded' prisoner?

Supreme Court: Can Florida execute 'mentally retarded' prisoner? | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
On Monday, the court is scheduled to hear a Florida case involving the death penalty as applied to those deemed to be mentally retarded – in this case, Freddie Lee Hall, who has a low IQ.
Tyler Campbell's insight:

This man who has scored above and below the state requirement to be considered mentally retarded is now on death row but it is a little bit sketchy. This inmate before his second time in jail, sexually assaulted a woman and then once he got out of jail he planned out a murder and committed it. To me I believe that this man will be executed under the law because he planned out a murder that somebody who is mentally retarded would not be able to do.

Paul Ryan's brown bag lunch story wasn't entirely untrue. Just the part that mattered. | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
Lies.

Remember how Rep. Paul Ryan was so sad about the poor boy who didn't want that nasty free government ...
Tyler Campbell's insight:

Paul Ryan, To get people to feel for him and stuff he heard a story about a guy who had to go to school and remembered his brown bagged lunch from home. A story that touched many people who heard it, but it was based on a lie. The story he told was nothing but a lie, but not fully. It wasn't his story but it was a true story. He stole this story from a book and used it as his own backstory of how he was raised and grew up. This wasn't an entirely wrong act, but he could have done something other than say this was his life.

U.S. To Hit Debt Ceiling Even Sooner Than Believed

U.S. To Hit Debt Ceiling Even Sooner Than Believed | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
The country's next fiscal crisis will come sooner than advertised.
Tyler Campbell's insight:

Quarter 3, week 1, January 20-26
So basically we are about to hit the next fiscal crisis because congress spends so much money we are neck deep in debt. According to research Republicans raised the debt  ceiling about 70-80 times, and the democrats only about 30 times. The president shouldnt have to negotiate over how to pay for the bill the Republicans keep building up. Raising the debt ceiling is unnecessary, we cab just have even slight budget cuts in government related services.

Tyler Campbell's insight:

Q4. Week 3
Basically this is a short article mentioning that a police official had used derogatory terms relating to the president and refused to apologize because the president "meets those qualifications". Romney only said that his type of racism doesn't belong in the community and he should retire.

I honestly wouldn't say that this isn't a  "defense" of the president, or a "ripping" of the police commissioner,  to me it just seems that Romney was just doing the right thing. The title of this article leads you to think its something else, to an extreme, but its not.

The Government Listens To Lobbyists And The Wealthy, Not You And Me

The Government Listens To Lobbyists And The Wealthy, Not You And Me | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
New research finds that average citizens have next to no influence on passing public policy.
Tyler Campbell's insight:

Qt.4 Week One
Times when they broke down surveys based upon income to poll the opinions they want to get, The average citizen has little to no independent influence on the policy at all. Just reading those two sections of the article I can already make a connection between an elitist party our government. As we had in a class discussion yesterday our government is in between pluralist and an elitist system of government, leaning more towards the elitist side because the rich have the most power.
We could also argue that our government could be similar to a hyper pluralist system because our big businesses can get away with nearly anything, because they supply the people in office currently with money for campaigns so that they can stay in office, where as if they DID get punished for their actions the politicians wouldn't have that funding.

Dung Vo's comment, April 22, 2014 9:01 AM
This article is quite similar to mine since both talk about how ELITISM is overpowering US government. How the rich and the big cooperation is dominating the decisions of the US government. The US average Americans doesn't have much saying about the government and how they are making their decisions because we don't have money to support the candidate. Candidate tend to target the rich because they want to win the elections. I totally agree with you that we are an ELITISM, because we, voters, can't change much about the US government when they say we can.
Hai Duong's comment, May 21, 2014 8:37 PM
I like how you explained this article. You could use more political words, but i liked how you explain that the counter argument was the government could be called a hyper pluralist. The elitism has been overpowering the US government and how the rich is controlling the government. I would even say that we are getting less democratic because the policy are controlled by a select few. There isn't much independence for an average citizen

Poland doubts sanctions will halt Russian push in Ukraine

Poland doubts sanctions will halt Russian push in Ukraine | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
Poland, a key player in the standoff with Russia over Crimea, is skeptical planned sanctions will be enough to halt Moscow's expansion into Ukraine, the country's foreign minister said in an interview.
Tyler Campbell's insight:

Russia seems to want to start world war III, because they won't just let bygones be bygones. Russia trying to push in towards the Ukraine because they want the black sea, for its oils and other natural resources. I personally think that Russia should back off and let the Ukraine stay peaceful. If for some reason what so ever, that World War 3 Breaks out, The United States should Stay out.

Massachusetts court says 'upskirt' photos are legal

Massachusetts court says 'upskirt' photos are legal | Tyler Campbell Current Events Scrapbook | Scoop.it
Massachusetts highest court ruled Wednesday that it is not illegal to secretly photograph underneath a person's clothing, a practice known as "upskirting."
Tyler Campbell's insight:

Apparently Massachusetts has a problem with upskirting. A district attorney is not the court, neither are policemen, neither are we. One goes out in public, one has no privacy in public, one should expect no privacy when one is in public. That is what public means, but I think you should know if somebody is trying to take a picture up your skirt... I mean it should be something you can sense. I do think its odd that people need to take pictures up peoples skirts but at the same time you should just know if somebody is taking a picture up your skirt OR if its a big problem at you specifically wear a longer skirt or dress.

Proposed (Classified) Bill Will Defend Against Flesh-Eating (Classified)

Rep. John Haller (R-PA) introduces a bill that will allocate (classified) dollars over the next (classified) years to fight flesh-eating (classified).
Tyler Campbell's insight:

2-4-14
Well I would have never expected that this would be proposed by any person in a seat of government power. Altho One day something out of the ordinary would happen, I thought that we would discover aliens before we discover possible Zombies. Especially Considering that he said Flesh Eating, and Other Worldly Stregnths this seems as if they already found or have fought a Zombie already. I have to admit i'm a little scared now, Time to Hit the Gym to be prepaired.
