10 Twitter Tools You Need to Check Out in 2014 | CodeCondo

10 Twitter Tools You Need to Check Out in 2014 | CodeCondo | Twitter Stats, Strategies + Tips | Scoop.it

I consider Twitter as a marketing tool, a way of catching up with the latest news, a great way of finding new friends and partnerships, even a way of getting support from companies which just seem to ignore you, despite the circumstances.

It’s many different things to all of us, but one thing is for sure – it can be enhanced with the help of 3rd party tools, if only to make us smile and think back on how we began our Twitter journey.

I’m actually not very big on tools, at least not when it comes to Twitter, but in this year alone – I’ve been able to collect a decent list of Twitter tools that I think you’ll like, and find useful. I hope that some of these help you out in one way or another, share the list with your friends to see what they think....

Twitter Tools

UpTempo Group's curator insight, July 18, 2014 1:33 PM

Twitter is one of the most powerful social media websites on the internet today. With nearly 255 million users, Twitter has proven to be a great way to communicate, engage, and stay connected with friends and clients. However, most users do not utilize many Twitter tools that can be beneficial for their profiles. Here is a great list of Twitter tools that optometries can use to increase their Twitter experience and brand recognition.

1. Social Rank

Social Rank is a Twitter application that helps brands and individuals find out more information about the people following them on Twitter. Social Rank provides optometries with deep analytics of their "best followers" and who they engage with the most. You get monthly reports, and it’s all carefully tailored to give you a general idea of people who might be worth reaching out to. Social Rank can be a powerful tool for small optometry practices who want to target a specific niche.

2. Fliplingo

Fliplingo is a Twitter language tool that helps you tweet in multiple languages. This is a powerful tool for optometrists to reach out to customers overseas. Fliplingo is designed to provide you with the best translation quality and increase communication with everyone around the world. Use this Twitter application if many of your customers are international.

3. Discover Twitter

Discover Twitter is a Twitter tool which new users can use to learn the basic etiquettes of Twitter. For new optometry practices, this is a very powerful took to upstart your social media presence. With Discover Twitter, you can learn the little tricks of Twitter to improve your online  presence with clients and customers.

3 Ways to Improve Your Twitter Marketing - OMI

3 Ways to Improve Your Twitter Marketing - OMI | Twitter Stats, Strategies + Tips | Scoop.it

Nice cheat sheet of sorts to help you with your use of Twitter to support your overall inbound marketing efforts.  Here's a quick summary...

1. Interact and Engage with Your Audience: The real value in using Twitter is the opportunity to develop relationships with your audience. So interact with people, reply to their tweets, ask questions, and start building new relationships.

2. Monitor Conversations and Relevant Keywords

Monitoring keywords is a great (and easy!) way to find targeted people to follow, offer timely advice, and stay on top of industry trends. Get started by monitoring the following types of keywords, in order of priority:

  • Brand Mentions
  • Links to Your Site
  • Pain Points
  • Related Businesses and Competitors
  • Interests of Your Target Audience

3. Grow Your Audience

Find New People to Follow

To start growing your audience, find and target new and influential people to follow. You can find these users by 1) monitoring keywords and conversations 2) reviewing the followers of people and businesses in your industry and 3) reviewing lists that other related Twitter accounts have created.

Add These Twitter Users to Lists

Once you start finding new people to follow, I recommend adding those accounts to a segmented list within your social media management tool. For instance, if you identify 20 key influencers or 20 potential customers and add them to a list, you can easily focus on consistently engaging with just those users over a certain period of time.

More Activity Leads to More Followers

As a general rule, the more you Tweet, the  more followers you’ll have, the more you engage with the people you follow, the more likely they will be to follow you back. Effective Twitter marketing takes time—you can’t automate it.

Mattia Nicoletti's curator insight, March 10, 2013 4:15 AM

The idea that viewers may influence a story of a scripted tv show can be interesting but in my opinion not always necessary. It's a matter of contents, some will be interactive some others not.

Who wants to change a great story written by a great writer? Do we really would like now to change the end of Casablanca or Shining or decide if in Lost the island must be moved?

There will be stories written to be interactive and others not.

Now everybody is enthusiast about transmedia and interaction because is something relatively new and because there are just few projects around, but when we will be invaded by them we could choose sometimes to be passive in the good old way.

9 Uses of Twitter for B2B Vendors

9 Uses of Twitter for B2B Vendors | Twitter Stats, Strategies + Tips | Scoop.it

... The world’s most popular microblogging platform is also a valuable tool for B2B companies. Here are nine ways B2B firms can benefit from being active on Twitter:

1. Communicate with customers: whether by providing support, answering queries, sharing content or communicating reminder messages, Twitter is a quick and easy method for dialog that doesn’t need to be kept private.

2. Reach out to prospects: use tools like Twellow, Wefollow, Geofollow and your own CRM system to find prospective customers on Twitter and share thought-leadership content with them to provide value and set your company apart from competitors.

3. Answer questions: demonstrating your knowledge—rather than just promoting your products or services—is a much better way to build trust, and a following on Twitter.

4. Ask questions: Twitter is a great forum for getting hard-to-find factual answers (related to the expertise of your followers of course) as well as gauging sentiment on key issues.

5. Share interesting content: the key to building a (relevant) following on Twitter is to share content that is truly interesting to others, not just your marketing pages and case studies. Share blog posts, reports, resources like industry-specific glossaries and infographics. Share a mix of your own content and relevant content from other (non-competitive) sources like industry trade publications.

6. Promote others: follow the bloggers who write about your industry. Retweet their posts. Recommend them to others through #followfriday tweets. This builds relationships, and is far more likely to get them to some day write something nice about your company than is mass-emailing your press releases.

7. Increase brand awareness: Twitter isn’t great for direct response in the B2B world. It is, however, a potentially powerful tool for building your brand and enhancing your company’s image as experts in your marketplace. Make the most of your tweets; a company’s Twitter account is often one of the top four results on a Google search for the company name.

8. Promote events: going to a trade show? Speaking at an industry forum? Attending a networking event? Twitter is a great place to showcase these and make arrangements to meet some of your followers in person.

9. Gain competitive intelligence: Twitter is great for keeping tabs on competitors, particularly by looking at what others are saying about them. What kinds of questions do people ask? What kinds of problems do they report? How does the competitor respond?

Creative Ways to Use Twitter for Business

Creative Ways to Use Twitter for Business | Twitter Stats, Strategies + Tips | Scoop.it

The Social Media Examiner has conceived 16 creative ways to boost your Tweeting.

These tips are designed to help you better organize and structure your Twitter strategy to get noticed.

Our favorites:

Create a Conversation List. Who you follow defines your Twitter experience. A conversation list helps to organize people based on why you started following them in the first place. Make private lists of who inspires you in business, who inspires you in life, who has great tips for crowdsourced innovation. You can keep your lists private or go public with them.

Update your profile picture. This little square associates your business with an image in the minds of followers, so be mindful of its look, and follow these sub-rules:

  • Make sure your logo fits the square. Obviously cropped or distorted ones look unprofessional. For PC users, the free tool Irfanview enables you to crop and resize photos in a snap. Mac users should try EasyCrop or GraphicConverter (our personal favorite)—both paid services, but relatively inexpensive. Free browser-based tools like Pic Resize will also let you crop or resize online.
  • Ensure your logo is readable. Don't use the space if the words in your logo can't be read.
  • Consider using a headshot. It's easier to connect with faces than with logos. Or you can make like Uber Paris and use both a face and a logo in a creative way that matches your company's spirit!
  • If you use a photo, focus on the face. There isn't room in a Twitter photo for whole-body shots on the beach.
  • No animals or kids! We're trying to connect with you, not your favorite things.

Rethink your visual branding. Create a custom graphic for your Twitter background to freshen things. Here are examples of Twitter backgrounds, and instructions for creating one.

Use Twitter to solve business challenges. Offer Twitter specials, reward retweeters, organize Tweetups in order to rally troops around your brand and motivate them to listen when you throw serious questions out there about your product or service. Better yet, put the product in their hands at the Tweetup!

The Po!nt: Don't tweet into a void. Organize your Twitter presence with greater purpose, and you'll find a panoply of ways to make it work for you.

5 Creative Ways B2B Marketers Can Use Twitter’s Vine — NewIncite

5 Creative Ways B2B Marketers Can Use Twitter’s Vine — NewIncite | Twitter Stats, Strategies + Tips | Scoop.it

We're still struggling to understand how Twitter's Vine can play a major role in the B2B marketing automation process. We're looking at Vine as just a means to distribute video content that teases to click to an offer.  Not much you can do in 6 seconds. Here's a summary of one take as to how Vine can assist...

Here is how Twitter defines Vine:

Vine is a mobile service that lets you capture and share short looping videos. Like Tweets, the brevity of videos on Vine (6 seconds or less) inspires creativity. (Twitter blog post)

From what little I’ve seen, I think there are some opportunities for B2B marketers:

1. Quick how-to’s about a product or service.

2. A sped-up video of how a brand has changed over time.

3. A quick video of your company’s timeline or milestones.

4. A six-second press conference for crisis communications or to set the record straight.

5. Quick announcements about the company – tombstones, deals, new employees.

Rachael Johnston's curator insight, December 8, 2014 11:36 AM

The 5 tips are shown above. I think number 1 and 3 are all great ideas. 5 could also be used if the announcement is actually interesting and if it can actually be summed up in a 6 second video. However, maybe this is  good way to entice people to want to find out more.

Number 4 though, I am not too sure I would use this strategy. Unless you are discussing an event that happened on Vine itself, I am not sure that creating a 6 second video for a crisis would be appropriate. for example, if you are making a public apology or something, I don't think a quick 6 second video shows that you care too much. This is just my personal opinion though.

For me there was not a whole lot of new ideas in this article. However, for someone who is new to the concept digital literacies I think this article would be helpful in giving some very concrete ways to use this tool. I really love the idea of using it as grammar & vocab builder. It would be perfect for ESL students! It makes me miss my English classroom because I think there are a lot of powerful activities that could be done to check for understanding. For example, you could even have students tweet out their thesis statement & provide their peers with feedback-quickly!
