Chas Begley: This study by Branded3 shows that there is a correlation between Tweeted urls and a page's search engine ranking. The effect levels out at 50 Tweets with further benefits kicking in only after a url had accumulated over 7,500 tweets at which point a url is almost guaranteed a top 5 placing.
The lesson from this landmark study is clear; that brands need to encourage tweeting of their most important pages.

Chas Begley: An interesting post by Nisha Kaushal on the limitations of Twitter for marketing which while I don't agree with all the reasoning makes a number of valid points.
The five limitations the post highlights are:
The flip side to Twitter's lack of personal community is the fact that it has enormous reach capability and can spread a message faster than any other network.
The other big advantage of Twitter is that it gives you access to major influencers, you can contact anyone on the network and while they may not necessarily respond you can still get you message to them. This ability to extend reach to those influencers is simply not available elsewhere.

Chas Begley: TweetsCharts is a new tool released by Dan Zarrella that provides a host of analytical information for any Twitter search term (including any hashtag, username, word, phrase, or URL).
It provides a whole host of potentially useful data including listing the percentages of tweets containing links, hashtags and mentions. It also tracks the number of the average number of tweets per minute.
The tool can show the most popular words and hashtags in the tweets as well as identifying who is mentioned.
Having had a little play I think it is excellent for helping understand any topic on Twitter. TweetCharts is free but requires you to enter an email address.
