Linear TV is still the dominant viewing source among those aged six to 34, with 69% of adults and 76% of kids still starting their viewing journey via TV channels, according to new research by Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN).

The TV RE[DEFINED] study claims that linear TV is still currently the only source that satisfies “both passive and active viewing needs” and, despite changing viewing habits, 71% still go to TV first, with the box remaining the main reference to discover and watch TV programs.

Sky boss reveals OTT, content plans - C21Media | TV Trends | Scoop.it

European satcaster Sky will increase its £4.6bn (US$7.25bn) programming budget and is looking to ramp up its OTT services to secure growth, according to the company’s CEO.


Jeremy Darroch, who became CEO at Sky following the takeover by BSkyB of Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia last year, said the satcaster would “raise our ambitions in content even further.”


“We are already Europe’s biggest investor in content with an annual spend of £4.6bn. And we plan to scale this even further,” he told the Enders Analysis Media & Telecoms Conference in London.
