ESPN may have the 'droid app you're looking for -- but only if you're a customer of Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS TV. The sports programmer is making four live network feeds -- with most of the same programming that's available on TV -- available through a free app for Google's Android operating system to subscribers of TWC, Bright House and FiOS TV.

ESPN has extended its authenticated "TV Everywhere" service to Apple's iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices, giving subscribers of Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS TV access to live feeds of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3. The free WatchESPN App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch became available Wednesday on Apple's iTunes App Store. A version optimized for the iPad will be available in May.

This will be a great addition to the ESPN family for our mobile's viewers.  

 

The Pro:  The viewers will have access everywhere through their devices using internet connection.  More subcribers will be sign up.  A good hub for advertise.  

 

The con:  More people will interact with mobile than televisions.

...Diginets, from media majors and new entrant independents, are an example of how OTT platforms can drive usage and revenue models by offering something new, just as cable TV did when it first entered the market.

Cord-Cutting Greatly Exaggerated: ESPN Study

According to an ESPN analysis of Nielsen's national people meter household sample, only 0.18% cut the multivideo network cord between fourth quarter 2010 and this year's first quarter, below the rate from the prior quarter.
