Abstract

Building a dynamic international distance education program can be a complex operation. The purpose of this paper is to discuss a model for global learning that utilizes a blended learning approach. This paper will describe how a blended learning approach was implemented in an international instructional technology Master’s program to the benefit of both universities and countries involved. The discussion will focus on a specific framework for developing an international, blended learning program with special consideration of cultural differences in language, teaching philosophy, and education.

Dennis T OConnor's curator insight, March 7, 2014 8:40 PM

This is a classic video from the University of Wisconsin-Madison that will open your empathy eyes and help you see (and hear) what it is like to use a screen reader.

Accessibility is essential for all users. Section 508 (the ADA of the Internet) has been around for a long time.  UDL is making strides in course design.  Technology is improving... Still this information may be new to many.  Watch and imagine you were dependent on technology to read online.

Lynne Tamor's curator insight, May 27, 2014 3:20 PM

A good first glance at what it's like to use a screen reader. An introduction, not a how-to.

If you are a Chrome user, now you can create your screencasts directly in your browser using the new app Screencastify. The app is free and easy to use.

Look for the app on Chrome Web store.

Brian Romero Smith's curator insight, February 16, 2014 9:24 AM

This is a game changer. As we look into all we will want to do with a device for our 1:1 initiative, being able to screencast was a priority. Student being able to demonstrate mastery by teaching others a specific skill online is essential to our technology platform. This helps tip the scale a bit toward the ChromeBook side.

Grammarly to check and improve your grammar

Grammarly to check and improve your grammar | Tutorials | Scoop.it

Even the most confident of native speakers can sometimes have doubts about their spelling and grammar. As for learners of English, getting their writing to a really high degree of proficiency can be a real challenge. It’s great to have a friend to turn to in moments of doubt or better still someone who will proof read your work and give you a second opinion, but if you don’t have that luxury then the Grammarly plagiarism checker is probably the next best thing.
