FORGET ABOUT SINGULARITY: Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of People (IoP) are Separate Entities.

FORGET ABOUT SINGULARITY: Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of People (IoP) are Separate Entities. | FUTURE TRENDS THAT MATTER | Scoop.it
Consumer and business technologies have been merging for some time now, but the trend is accelerating. Here are 10 developments worth keeping your eye on.
FRANK FEATHER ~ Business Futurist's insight:

FORGET ABOUT SINGULARITY: Humans and technology are NOT melding into single beings. Such an idea is nonsense. Every technology is an extension of us and our abilities. We create it. Yes, we will interact and converge with it periodically, and various technologies may be incorporated into our bodies, as they are now with pacemakers and transplants. But otherwise, we attach and then detach ourselves from technology on a routine basis, just as when we switch off the TV or exit a movie theater or log offline, or deplane an airplane or go to and from a space station. This is no different than the invention of the telephone where you attach and detach with others in order to achieve things more efficiently. Worries about humanoids becoming smarter than us and taking over the world are bizarre. They will only be able to do what we program them to do, including any ability they might be given to reproduce. They will only be able to think what we program and allow them to think. So let's understand what convergence is really about, and embrace it.

SUPER-BOOM UNFOLDS: Lowest Jobless Claims Ever? | FUTURE TRENDS THAT MATTER | Scoop.it
Jobless claims came in lower than expected again this week as first-time claims came in at 259K compared to expectations of 265K. This marks the second straight
FRANK FEATHER ~ Business Futurist's insight:

Essentially, US jobless claims are at the lowest point ever. Why? because the population and labor force are higher than ever. As it is, they are at the lowest since way back in 1973, when the US population was about 50% smaller than today. This all goes to underpin what I call the unfolding economic SUPER-BOOM.

BRILLIANT LONG ARTICLE: 20 Excuses Filipinos Use to Justify Society’s Failure

BRILLIANT LONG ARTICLE: 20 Excuses Filipinos Use to Justify Society’s Failure | FUTURE TRENDS THAT MATTER | Scoop.it

When closely examining the issue of why the Philippines has turned out to become Asia’s Basketcase of Wasted Democrazy, a Tagalog expression actually seems to perfectly capture the essence of our society’s collective failure to progress, improve ourselves, and fix the very problems that turned us into a Basketcase: “Kung talagang gusto, maraming paraan; Kung talagang ayaw, maraming dahilan…” (“If you really want it, there are many ways; If you don’t really want it, there are many excuses.”) The unfortunate Truth about the general collective failure of Filipinos as a society and the dismal performance of the Philippines on the world stage reveals that Filipinos simply don’t really seem to want to be successful to begin with.

FRANK FEATHER ~ Business Futurist's insight:

This is a long but brilliant article that could be applied to almost any society, especially a developing one, on why it is too slow to change and modernize.

A new Pew Research Center study explores how much the face of immigration has changed--and changed the country--and how much more it will do so by 2065.
FRANK FEATHER ~ Business Futurist's insight:

The melting pot is evaporating. Like it or not, non-white citizens will form less than 50% of America's population, and over time, America will reflect a globalized culture, in much the same way as Canada has evolved. Stop Competing Over Who Can Stay at Work the Longest ~ in fact TELECOMMUTE

Stop Competing Over Who Can Stay at Work the Longest ~ in fact TELECOMMUTE | FUTURE TRENDS THAT MATTER | Scoop.it
Real productivity doesn’t always look anything like “first to work, last to leave.”
FRANK FEATHER ~ Business Futurist's insight:

Commuting to offices and 9-5 is an outdated factory-age concept. In the digital age, you do not go to work, work come to you, wherever you happen to be, at home or on the road. At least 80% of people working in office buildings downtown simply do not need to be there to do their work. They would be far more productive, and cost the employer less, if they worked remotely. So being seen sitting at a desk is irrelevant and stupid.
