Communication has changed. According to a January 2014 survey by the Pew Internet Project, 87 percent of U.S. adults use the Internet. A majority of them use the platform to seek out health-related information.

 

The behavioral healthcare sector has been slower than mainstream providers such as New York-based WebMD to hang a shingle online, largely due to the inherent challenges of providing support to a population often identified as unable to manage their own care—a conclusion now considered out of date.

This article hits the point on the head (although they bury the main point), "When patients do not have the option to visit with another doctor or specialist for a second opinion, the safety and efficiency of the medical system is compromised. By using telehealth technologies, for example video to share information with other medical professionals, a second (or third) opinion can easily and effectively be given from even the most remote location."

Fascinating article about knees and knee injuries. Strong leg muscles can absorb about 30% of the stress a knee bears. Being overweight doesn't help either as excess strain wears knees down. There are a lot of really cool facts in this excellent read.

MONTREAL - Patient portals are an opportunity for patients to get timely access to their radiology information. But if they aren't designed properly, they can exclude radiologists from the care process, according to Dr. Ella Kazerooni, who discussed patient portals at last week's Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) meeting.

American radiologist Dr. Ella Kazerooni from the University of Michigan argues that telehealth needs to be patient-centered and personalized.
