EPIC 2020, stands for the proposition that the education of the world will change dramatically for the better during this decade. The two movies that appear on this site hope to provide tools that shatter the paradigm that the future will be anything like the past as well as facilitate discussion and accelerate actions to bring about the transformation of the education of the world. These two videos were released to the public in early June 2012 following in the footsteps of EPIC 2014 that was released in 2004 and predicted the demise of the print newspaper industry. These two new videos present a prophetic dramatization of the death of the traditional higher education system by the end of this decade. They describe the technological forces that are disrupting traditional education and identify new business models that will get rid of “degrees” by creating new concepts in documenting skills. Since Higher Ed has not achieved any significant improvement in productivity in a hundred years, an educational consumer revolt is in the making. The videos explain two new business models that have the potential to eliminate tuition as a concept by the end of the decade. EPIC 2020 was written and narrated by Bill Sams, a Commissioner on the eTech Ohio Commission and an Executive in Residence with the College of Business at Ohio University. Mr. Sams was an executive in semiconductor and software companies in Silicon Valley for 25 years.
