Most days, having a three year old is such a joy. But then there are the days when Charming Baby makes like Elvis and has “left the building.” On those days, I’ll do just about anything to avoid yet another meltdown.
A Mariner’s Memorial Service will be held in Traverse City at noon tomorrow.
The service is held each year to remember and honor mariners who have passed away while on the Great Lakes and oceans throughout the world… it takes place at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy on NMC’s Great Lakes Campus. This year marks the 37th year for the annual service. It is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

1:30 p.m.- Woodaline the Beaver Puppet Show Tim Lajoice will perform a puppet show featuring Woodaline, a beaver who has a lot information to share with kids
2:30 p.m.- Susan Katz Presents My Mama Earth Susan's show takes kids on a journey through a day, experiencing the joy we find in the nature all around us.
4 p.m.- Festival Contest Winners Ceremony The winners of the Junior Book Reviewer Contest and Junior Illustrator Contest will be presented with their prizes. Be sure you come out to support these great kids!

In partnership with ACT, Blackbird Arts is offering Footloose, a new drop-in class for adults to experience the fun side of dance and movement.The drop-in dance social is designed to support adults of ALL abilities. Each class will begin with ½ hour dance lesson led by a professional instructor experienced in adaptive dance. The program will focus on body awareness, creativity, teamwork, motor coordination, and personal expression.
The $5 suggested donation will include open dance time and social hour with friends and refreshments. Footloose will take place on Sept 27, Oct 11, 25 and Nov. 8 from 7-8:30.
