L'Institut français d'archéologie orientale du Caire signe une découverte majeure pour la connaissance des débuts de la civilisation pharaonique.

La datation au carbone 14 vient de le confirmer: la barque découverte à huit kilomètres des pyramides de Gizeh est bien la plus ancienne jamais trouvée en Égypte. C'est une équipe de l'Institut français d'archéologie orientale du Caire (Ifao) travaillant depuis 2008 en collaboration avec la Macquarie University de Sydney (Australie) qui a effectué cette mise au jour sur le site d'Abou Rawach, une nécropole de briques crues (mastabas) datant de la première dynastie (3150-2900 av. J.-C.) et connue depuis les années 1913-1914.
