First 6 months with the X-Pro1 | Thomas Hogben

First 6 months with the X-Pro1 | Thomas Hogben | Travelling Light | Scoop.it

... I have been shooting with the X-Pro1 now for around 6 months and I really do enjoy it as a camera. But when out today it kept erroring when trying to shoot a couple of short movie clips.. This isnt something i often use the camera for as, to be honest its pretty poor at video but it would be nice for it to at least work. Anyone else had this issue? As far as stills go I am really very impressed with the performance across the board. Shooting both raw and Jpeg is currently still the best option. Archiving the raw files for a time when they may out perform the Jpegs but currently Lightroom produces better images from the Pro Standard Jpegs than the RAWs. Although the latitude of the RAW does still out perform the jpeg.

You can see a selection of my photos here...

Fuji X-Files: Fuji X-Pro 1 AF (Autofocus) speed and accuracy - Review and tipps

Fuji X-Files: Fuji X-Pro 1 AF (Autofocus) speed and accuracy - Review and tipps | Travelling Light | Scoop.it

It seems to me that speed and quality of the Fujifim X-Pro 1 autofocus is one of the hottest topics about this camera on the web. "Is it as fast as...?" "Is it capable of sports, action, etc...?"

I will focus (no pun intended) on this topic for todays post and give you my experiences and tips on how to get the most out of the X-Pro 1 in terms of focusing. As of today, I took more than 10,000 images with the X-Pro 1 in the past 4 month. That gives me a pretty good idea of what the AF can and what it can't do.

The X-Pro 1 AF will not rival the speed of the Nikon D4 or Canon 1D X - that should not be a surprise to anyone. But there are ways to make the AF of the X-Pro 1 perform fast enough for most situations.

The X-Pro1 is the start of an all-new camera system, with a brand new mount and lenses. It's unashamedly targeted at a high-end audience, with analogue control dials and a small set of compact, large-aperture primes available at launch.

ExifTool | diving into X-Pro1 and X100 metadata | laROQUE | Travelling Light | Scoop.it

I’d always been rather satisfied with Aperture 3’s metadata views until I started shooting the X100. Why? Because the EXIF data in Aperture doesn’t include Fuji’s proprietary film simulation info (available in JPEG mode). And while it was frustrating on the X100, it’s become more of an issue with the X-Pro1 since I tend to play with these a lot more, especially the two Pro-Neg simulations which I’ve become quite fond of. In fact, my studio preset is based on Pro-Neg Std (with raw as a backup).
