Stani is located behind historic Omonia Square, once the center of Athens’ commercial district but today a somewhat forlorn area that has been in a downward spiral for the last 15 years. The economic crisis hasn’t helped, with hotels and shops closing right, left and center. A three-minute walk from the Omonia metro station down (not so pretty) Marika Kotopouli Street, Stani appears suddenly, like a culinary oasis in the midst of a commercial desert. The neighborhood may have lost its appeal, but the quality of the products Stani sells is so superb that the place remains popular with Athenians of all generations (although, being an old-fashioned place, the dairy bar is usually full of pensioners, which is part of the charm here).

The store is small and the waiters are dressed in the traditional combo of black trousers and white shirt that is the standard uniform in old-school Greek eateries. You can either sit down (there are a couple of tables inside and more in a shaded area outside) or do takeaway. Right behind the giant fryer where the house specialty,loukoumades – deep-fried pastries doused in honey – are made, there are industrial-size refrigerators with glass-lined doors through which you can see what’s on offer.

Among the must-try items here is the moustalevria, a thick, brown pudding made from grape must (unfiltered and unfermented juice from freshly pressed grapes) that is a seasonal delicacy offered in Greece in the fall. The taste and texture are unique: picture a sweet and fragrant concoction that hovers somewhere between pudding and an earthy Jell-O. Stani also serves the whole range of old-fashioned Greek desserts – including the “little mouse dessert” (a chocolate dessert shaped like a mouse), walnut pie and galaktoboureko (custard and semolina in phyllo) – from a menu has been the same for more than 30 years and that remains popular with customers who were raised on these dishes.

But the whole reason to go to Stani is for the outstanding house yogurt, which is made with sheep’s milk that comes from small farms near Athens. The yogurt is served the traditional Greek way, on a plate with honey and walnuts. Few words do justice to the taste of the yogurt, which is so thick that at points it is almost solid. The honey and walnuts are the perfect accompaniment, and the portions are so generous that the yogurt is practically a full meal.

It’s also worth noting that, in a city that definitely doesn’t specialize in breakfast (most Athenians tend to eat something on the go), Stani is one place where you can actually eat a full-on breakfast: warm fresh milk, fresh butter, fried eggs (they fry them with full-fat, old-fashioned butter), bread, orange juice and Greek coffee are on offer.

Stani has belonged to the same family for years and there is an extreme amount of pride here. Adorning the walls in gilded frames are awards of excellence from the 1953 Thessaloniki International Fair. The awards may have been earned 59 years ago, but the truth is that little has changed at Stani since.

esse and Celine rode through Vienna in 1995′s “Before Sunrise.” Then, they walked the streets of Paris nine years later in “Before Sunset.” Now, the couple find themselves strolling through the ruins of Greece in “Before Midnight.”

“Before Midnight,” which hits theaters May 24, begins with Jesse (Ethan Hawke) dropping his son, Hank, off at the airport in Kalamata. As Hank heads home to Chicago to be with his mother (and Jesse’s now ex-wife), Jesse struggles with finding a way to maintain a relationship with his teenage son. Meanwhile, Jesse and Celine (Julie Delpy), who are parents to twins, are also dealing with their own feelings and emotions towards each other.

Aside from Greece setting the stage for the continuation of the 18-year love story, “Before Midnight” also has a predominantly Greek cast and crew. Athina Rachel Tsangari, whose credits include many well-respected titles (“Attenberg,” “Alps,” “Dogtooth,” to name a few), produced and appears in the film, and she is just one of many Greeks who contributed to the making of “Before Midnight.”

Nana Mouskouri sera de passage au Québec le 28 mai prochain, afin de recevoir l’insigne d’officière de l’Ordre national du Québec. Elle obtiendra la distinction honorifique des mains de la première ministre Pauline Marois.
L’Université McGill remettra aussi à la militante un doctorat honoris causa deux jours plus tard.
Sa venue sera également l’occasion d’annoncer une tournée « anniversaire » mondiale en 2014 et de promouvoir son dernier album « Rendez Vous » (paru en 2011).

Nana Mouskouri fera son grand retour sur scène pour sa tournée anniversaire « Happy Birthday Tour ». Cette tournée débutera le 13 octobre 2013, jour de son anniversaire, à Athènes, où elle jouera plusieurs spectacles sur la scène d’un cabaret en souvenir du lieu où tout a commencé il y a 55 ans et qui la mèneront, une fois de plus, dans les salles du monde entier.

« La musique était mon premier amour, chanter m’a aidé à respirer et m’a donné l’espoir de chercher si l’amour et la paix existent ?!
Après avoir célébré les 50 ans de « Weisse Rosen aus Athen » il y a deux ans à Berlin, j’ai réalisé que 2012 marquait les 50 ans depuis ma rencontre avec Quincy Jones qui a produit mon premier album à New York ; 2013 marque les 50 ans depuis les Parapluies de Cherbourg de Michel Legrand et les 50 ans depuis le concours Eurovision de la chanson organisé à Londres par la BBC ; 2014 marquera les 50 ans depuis Harry Belafonte et ma première tournée aux USA et Canada.
Étant donné que j’ai eu la chance d’aller aussi loin dans ma vie grâce à mes chansons, aux auteurs-compositeurs et à l’amour du public, je me suis dit que cela valait la peine d’être fêté.
À tous mes amis, mes chers auteurs-compositeurs qui ont nourri et enrichi mon âme de chanteuse, je vous souhaite un « Joyeux anniversaire » !

His photographs crystallize fleeting everyday moments, in a spare and austere style, which is nevertheless tender, without any pompous rhetoric. His award-wining work stands out with the pictures of the country of that time and serves as a springboard for young photographers for a different approach to the Greek countryside.

Beyond the ethnological and historical interest that this project acquired over the years and especially after the catalytic changes brought with the development of tourism the last decades, the poetic ability of Manos’ lens, creates timeless images which exude the uniqueness of the landscape and its inhabitants, offering us “a part of our identity.” Also, as the works of great poets, according to the director of the Benaki Museum Angelos Delivorias, “They refer to the immutable values, those which are detectable even in the most humble phenomena of life and to the epic dimension which is inherent in the relation between human and the environment.”

Marking the 50th anniversary of putting together A Greek Portfolio, Constantine Manos re-examines the shots he took during the period 1961-1964 (to which he added more in 1967), when he traveled the breadth and length of his parents’ country, “as a friendly observer,” he stated, “with no rush or specific plan” and offers a different reading of his material.

The first part of the exhibition presents a group of original prints of his photographs, which he chose himself in 1972 to illustrate the portfolio of the same name.

In the second part the themes were selected from amongst 219 original prints, which the photographer recently donated to the museum’s photographic archive, and did not include in his composition of A Greek Portfolio.

Ο Μίλλερ, ως βαθύς γνώστης του ανθρώπου, επιχείρησε να τον αποδώσει προσπερνώντας όλα τα φτιασιδώματα. Γιατί ο Μίλλερ δεν ενδιαφέρεται για τον φκιασιδωμένο άνθρωπο, αλλά για τον ολόγυμνο. Για τον άνθρωπο που κουβαλά και προσαρμόζει το πρωτόγονο μέσα στη λαίλαπα του πολιτισμού. Η ποιητική του Μίλλερ βρίσκεται ακριβώς μέσα σ’ αυτή την αιώνια διαπάλη. Το μουγκρητό του ζώου που κρύβεται πάντα κάτω από τον πολιτισμό. Γι’ αυτό ο Μίλλερ δεν τσιγκουνεύεται τις περιγραφές, ούτε ενδιαφέρεται για την ηθική της φρασεολογίας του, γιατί ξέρει καλά ότι ηθική δεν υπάρχει μπροστά στα απύθμενα ανθρώπινα ένστικτα κι ότι ο μόνος δρόμος της ευτυχίας είναι η αποδοχή αυτών των ενστίκτων. Και φυσικά δεν μιλάμε ούτε για βιαιοπραγίες, ούτε για κακοποιήσεις ή για εγκλήματα ή τελοσπάντων οτιδήποτε προσβάλλει την ανθρώπινη ελευθερία. Μιλάμε για την ολόπλευρη αποδοχή του ανθρώπου που οφείλει να ξεπεράσει όλα τα προσωπεία διεισδύοντας στη βαθύτερη υπόστασή του, κι αυτό είναι ο μέγιστος ανθρωπισμός. Η ίδια η τεχνική του Μίλλερ ενσαρκώνει στο ακέραιο αυτή την οπτική. Ο κατάφωρος, στα όρια του βασανιστικού, ποιητικός λόγος που, απολύτως ανεπιτήδευτα, ξεβράζει τη σεξουαλικότητα είναι το αγρίμι που βρυχάται κάτω απ’ το κουστούμι. Είναι ο πολιτισμός που τα εκλεπτύνει όλα και το αβυσσαλέο ένστικτο που αναβλύζει πηγαία. Αυτό το δίπολο εκφράζει ο Μίλλερ ξέροντας καλά ότι μόνο η αποδοχή του θα συμφιλιώσει τον άνθρωπο με τον εαυτό του. Στο βιβλίο του «Ο κόσμος του σεξ», γράφει από την πρώτη σελίδα: «Ελάχιστες μονάχα οξυδερκείς και διορατικές ψυχές μοιάζουν ικανές να συμφιλιώσουν τις τάχατες αντιφατικές όψεις ενός όντος που πάσχισε να μην κρατήσει κρυφή καμιά πτυχή του εαυτού του στο συγγραφικό του έργο».

Στις 20 Μαΐου 2013, στις 2 το μεσημέρι ώρα Λονδίνου, με τη γνωστή βρετανική ακρίβεια, στην Διεθνή Έκθεση Οίνου του Λονδίνου ανακοινώθηκαν από τον πρόεδρο της επιτροπής του διαγωνισμού Steven Spurrier τα αποτελέσματα του Διαγωνισμού Οίνου (Decanter World Wine Awards 2013) του περιοδικού Decanter για το 2013. Είναι ίσως ο πιό έγκυρος αλλά και σημαντικός διαγωνισμός οίνου της Ευρώπης και ένας από τους σημαντικότερους του κόσμου! Είναι τα αποτελέσματα για τα οποία όλοι οι οινοποιοί σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο κρατούσαν σήμερα την ανάσα τους.

Οι συμμετοχές ξεπέρασαν εφέτος κάθε προσδοκία: 14,362 συμμετοχές από όλο τον κόσμο (πέρυσι 14,119), από 52 συνολικά χώρες.

219 ειδικοί στο κρασί από 27 χώρες, συμπεριλαμβανομένων 75 Masters of Wine και 13 Master Sommeliers έκριναν το διαγωνισμό. Ήταν ασφαλώς ένα από τα καλύτερα panels στον κόσμο!

Συνολικά σε 9.873 κρασιά απονεμήθηκε μετάλλιο Decanter: 156 Περιφερειακά Τρόπαια (Regional Trophies), 229 χρυσά μετάλλια, 1.665 ασημένια μετάλλια, 4.165 χάλκινο μετάλλιο και 3.658 συνιστώμενα (Commended).

Galifianakis’ career began on television, when he played the recurring role of a stoner named Deuce in the short-lived sitcom “Boston Common.” Then he joined “Saturday Night Live” as a writer but lasted only two weeks. Galifianakis co-starred in the film “Out Cold” and had small roles in “Corky Romano,” “Below,” “Bubble Boy,” “Heartbreakers,” “Into the Wild,” “Super High Me,” “Little Fish Strange Pond,” and “Largo.” He had his own episode of Comedy Central Presents, which first aired in September 2001. Galifianakis gained stardom when he co-starred as Alan Garner in the hit comedy “The Hangover” and earned the MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance. Following “The Hangover”‘s release, Galifianakis was prominently advertised in subsequent films that featured him in supporting roles. These included “G-Force,” “Youth in Revolt,” and the Oscar-nominated film “Up in the Air.”

The Island of Santorini: Impressions and Rituals

Santorini, also known as Thira (Thera or Theira– this gets confusing when booking hotels and flights), is a volcanic island. Her appearance today is the result of a massive eruption 3500 years ago which literally, blew her top off. This led to the collapse of the volcanic mouth into a caldera (aka crater) to be filled in by the sea, leaving a ring of cliffs upon which the villages are now built.  The resulting scenery draws thousands of tourists, but isn’t necessarily stable, asrecent seismic tremors indicate.  This same volcano is blamed for destroying the Minoan civilization on Crete (the same ones who made the foot press!).

Our 5:15 am, 45-minute flight out of Athens touched down on the outer edge of the isle, just as the sun began to glow, slowly hoisting itself out of the eastern stretch of sea.  We would be staying on the caldera side, not far from bustling Fira town, the capital. After a short cab ride from the airport, we arrived at our hotel the Heliotopos, and were greeted with our first glimpse of the famous view, from our private balcony.

The azure expanse of sea stretched as though to another galaxy, silent and shimmering, only broken by the occasional boat skimming across its deep waters, ribbons traced across the placid surface.  Steep, stark cliffs stretched starward, nearly 1000 feet above the ocean, with apparently as much descending into the depths below.  As the rim curves, one can see specks of whitewashed villages, perched along the precipice; cubic homes built in jumbled stacks, as though rows of teeth in the mouth of a sleeping shark, swallowing the sea below.

During our four days on the island, we fell into an easy routine. Wine tasting during the day, followed by a sunset vigil on our balcony. Each evening we rambled down the hill to the nearest mart to collect fresh cheeses, local bread and cured meats before our evening celestial worship.  We supplemented our offerings with the very local rose (I think the shopkeeper made it at home) or one of the many Assyrtikos we had amassed during our circadian wine tastings.  Four days felt like one on Santorini, and after discovering there were multiple wineries producing high-quality vino strewn throughout the island, I quickly wished I had booked a week.

Εγκαινιάζοντας την τελετή της απονομής, πουσυντόνισε ο Προκόπης Δούκας (προηγήθηκε σύντομη μουσική εισαγωγή με τον Σπύρο Κοντό στο όμποε και τη Λητώ Θώμου στο πιάνο), ο αναπληρωτής υπουργός Πολιτισμού Κώστας Τζαβάρας τόνισε πως το κράτος τιμά τη λογοτεχνική παραγωγή από το 1956 και εγγυάται με το κύρος του τις πνευματικές αξίες και το συμβολικό κεφάλαιο που συγκεντρώνουν με την εργασία τους οι συγγραφείς. 

"Στην κρίσιμη περίοδο που διανύουμε", παρατήρησε ο υπουργός, "η παραγωγή σημαντικών πνευματικών έργων είναι η έμπρακτη απόδειξη ότι οι δημιουργικές δυνάμεις του τόπου συνεχίζουν να είναι παρούσες και να συμβάλλουν ενεργά στην προβολή του σύγχρονου πολιτισμού μας".

Στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κύπελλο Συγχρονισμένης κολύμβησης που διεξάγεται στη Σαβόνα (24-26/5), θα συμμετάσχουν οι πρωταθλήτριες μας Δέσποινα Σολωμού και Ευαγγελία Πλατανιώτη που αναχωρούν την Τετάρτη (22/5) συνοδευόμενες από την ομοσπονδιακή προπονήτρια Ναταλία Τσερνέτσκα.

Στην αποστολή μετέχει και ο διεθνής Κριτής Αλέξανδρος Καρύδης. Οι δύο αθλήτριες μας θα αγωνιστούν στο Ντουέτο. Την Πσρασκευή (24/5) στα προκριματικά του τεχνικού (11.00) και του ελεύθερου προγράμματος (17.00) και την Κυριακή (26/5) στον τελικό του αγωνίσματος (11.00).

Στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κύπελλο μετέχουν 12 συνολικά χώρες: Αυστρία, Τσεχία, Γαλλία, Γερμανία, Βρετανία, ΕΛΛΑΔΑ, Ιταλία, Ρωσία, Σλοβακία, Ισπανία, Ελβετία, Ουκρανία.

Vouliagmeni is a beautiful and picturesque peninsula, situated on the eastern edge of Athens (just 20 Km from the center of Athens), known from the famous lake with the mineral water spa and an outstanding mild climate that makes all-year round holidays possible.

Ο Μίλλερ, ως εκπρόσωπος του δυτικού κόσμου, φτάνει στην Ελλάδα και καταπλήσσεται από τα πάντα. Κυριολεκτικά εμβρόντητος ξετυλίγει σελίδες απίστευτου μεγαλείου, στα όρια του παραληρήματος. Δεν είναι μόνο τα τοπία ή ο ήλιος ή οι αρχαιολογικοί χώροι που τον καθηλώνουν, είναι η ίδια η ελληνική ιδιοσυγκρασία που τον αφήνει αποσβολωμένο. Θαυμάζει τα πάντα, ενθουσιάζεται με τα πάντα βιώνοντας μια απίστευτη συναισθηματική υπερβολή. Και δεν είναι η καθαρή έκπληξη του τουρίστα που επισκέπτεται το εξωτικό, δηλαδή το κάτι πέρα από τον ίδιο, που, όπως είναι φυσικό, τον καθηλώνει (γιατί πάντα η διαφορετικότητα καθηλώνει, ιδίως τον ταξιδιώτη που από θέση αρχής αναζητά τέτοιες εμπειρίες), είναι το δέος απέναντι στην αφοπλιστική ευθύτητα μιας κοινωνίας που με τη φτώχεια της διεκδικεί πολιτισμικό ανάστημα. Είναι η αποτίμηση της απλότητας μπροστά σε μια χειροπιαστή ευτυχία που εκδηλώνεται παράφορα χωρίς να πληρείται καμία υλική προϋπόθεση. Η σύγκριση με το αγγλοσαξονικό ιδεώδες είναι αναπόφευκτη κι Μίλλερ μένει άφωνος, σχεδόν αμήχανος, μπροστά στην πρωτόγονη σοφία που εκφράζει το αυτοσχέδιο γλεντοκόπι και το ξενύχτι στα καφενεία, κάτω από τον καθαρό ουρανό. Συνταράσσεται από τη διαφορετική οπτική της ζωής, που δε θα μπορούσε ο ίδιος ποτέ και με κανένα τρόπο να συλλάβει. Ο Μίλλερ αηδιασμένος έτσι κι αλλιώς από το αμερικάνικο όνειρο βρίσκει τον επίγειο παράδεισο. Βρίσκει την οριστική απαλλαγή από τον ψευτοπολιτισμό που εκπροσωπούσε. Η άποψή του για τις Ελληνίδες συμπυκνώνει τα πάντα. «….εντυπωσιάστηκα από την απουσία όλων εκείνων των λαμπερών ψεγαδιών που κάνουν ακόμη και την πιο όμορφη Αμερικανίδα ή Αγγλίδα να φαίνεται άσχημη. Η Ελληνίδα είναι και μένει πρώτα απ’ όλα γυναίκα. Σκορπά ένα χαρακτηριστικό άρωμα, σε ζεσταίνει και σε γοητεύει…….Και το τελευταίο κορίτσι που βλέπει κανείς στο δρόμο στην Ελλάδα είναι ανώτερο από κάθε άποψη από το αντίστοιχο στην Αμερική…..»

Το ευρωπαϊκό Φεστιβάλ Jazz της «Τεχνόπολις» Δήμου Αθηναίων, μετά από δώδεκα επιτυχημένες χρονιές ανοίγει πλέον τις πύλες του σε όλο τον κόσμο και εξελίσσεται στο διεθνές “Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival” φιλοξενώντας jazz τάσεις από όλο τον πλανήτη.

Από την Παρασκευή 31 Μαΐου έως την Κυριακή 2 Ιουνίου μουσικά σχήματα από 11 χώρες (Πορτογαλία, Ισραήλ, Δανία, Ουγγαρία, Ισπανία, Πολωνία, Ελλάδα, Αργεντινή, Αυστρία, Ολλανδία –  κατά σειρά εμφάνισης -) δίνουν το παρών στην Τεχνόπολη.
 
Την ελληνική συμμετοχή θα επιλέξει τετραμελής επιτροπή που αποτελείται αλφαβητικά από τους: Μάριο Στρόφαλη (μουσικοσυνθέτης – Καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής του Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival), Δημήτρη Τρίκα (δημοσιογράφος – μουσικός παραγωγός), Γιώργο Χαρωνίτη (συνεκδότης του περιοδικού Jazz & Τζαζ) και Γιώργο Χατζηνάσιο (μουσικοσυνθέτης).

Το “Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival” θα φιλοξενήσει τα πλέον αντιπροσωπευτικά συγκροτήματα στο είδος, με διεθνή καριέρα και καταξίωση, ερμηνεύοντας ένα μεγάλο φάσμα ακουσμάτων.

Η «Τεχνόπολις» Δήμου Αθηναίων γίνεται το κέντρο του κόσμου για δέκατη τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά και σας προσκαλεί όλους στο athens technopolis jazz festival.

Alexander Payne is one of the most acclaimed living Greek-American director and screenwriter. He is known for the films Election (1999), About Schmidt (2002), Sideways (2004) and The Descendants (2011). His films are noted for their dark humor and satirical depictions of contemporary American society.

Payne was born in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Peggy and George Payne, restaurant owners. He is of Greek descent (his grandfather anglicized the last name from Papadopoulos).

Αξιότιμε κύριε Πρωθυπουργέ,

Σε συνέχεια προηγούμενης συνάντησης μας, την 19η Νοεμβρίου 2012, σας γνωρίζουμε τα εξής:

1. Συνολικά, πάνω από 1 εκατ. περισσότερες αεροπορικές θέσεις έχουν προγραμματισθεί για τη χώρα μας το 2013, σε σχέση με το 2012, ενώ οι προκρατήσεις για την φετινή περίοδο προχωρούν σχεδόν σε όλες τις χώρες στόχους με διψήφιο θετικό πρόσημο. Υπάρχει επίσης αυξημένο ενδιαφέρον για τον θαλάσσιο τουρισμό και για την κρουαζιέρα, με μόνο αρνητικό σημείο τον εισερχόμενο συνεδριακό τουρισμό, την τουριστική εικόνα της Αθήνας και της Θεσσαλονίκης. Προβληματικός παραμένει και ο εσωτερικός τουρισμός, ο οποίος βρίσκεται στα επίπεδα του 50% (1,5 δισ. Ευρώ) σε σχέση με το 2008 (3 δισ. Ευρώ), με τάσεις περαιτέρω μικρής μείωσης το 2013. Όλα τα παραπάνω, μας κάνουν αισιόδοξους για την επίτευξη ή ακόμη και την υπέρβαση των στόχων του 2013 για 1 εκατ. επιπλέον αφίξεις, δηλαδή 17 εκατ. και περισσότερα από 11 δισ. Ευρώ σε άμεσα έσοδα. Βασικός στόχος, φέτος, να ανταποκριθούμε στα αναγκαία επίπεδα ασφάλειας, καθαριότητας και υπηρεσιών, ώστε να βάλουμε τις βάσεις για μία μόνιμα ανοδική πορεία. Αυτή  η οποία  σε ορίζοντα 2-3 ετών, θα οδηγήσει στα 20 εκατ. διεθνείς αφίξεις, προσφέροντας συνολικά επιπλέον 3 μονάδες κάθε χρόνο στο ΑΕΠ της χώρας και πάνω από 150.000 χιλιάδες νέες θέσεις εργασίας.

2. Η ανάδειξη του ΣΕΤΕ, άρα και του τομέα του τουρισμού, ως ισότιμου κοινωνικού εταίρου, η οποία ετέθη στην προηγούμενη συνάντησή μας, έγινε με τη δική σας στήριξη, πραγματικότητα. Θα βοηθήσει αποφασιστικά, διότι συνενώνει δυνάμεις και στρατηγικές, ενισχύοντας την ενιαία εικόνα και δράση των τουριστικών επιχειρηματιών της χώρας και τη συνεργασία τους με τους εργαζόμενους στον τουρισμό. Ευχαριστούμε θερμά εσάς προσωπικά, τους αρχηγούς των άλλων κομμάτων της κυβέρνησης συνεργασίας, ιδιαίτερα τον Υπουργό Εργασίας και την Υπουργό Τουρισμού για αυτή την ιστορική εξέλιξη.

3. Ο ΣΕΤΕ σε συνεργασία με το Υπουργείο Τουρισμού και το Υπουργείο Ανάπτυξης Ανταγωνιστικότητας, Υποδομών, Μεταφορών και Δικτύων, προτίθεται να συντάξει αναλυτική μελέτη (Master Plan) εφαρμογής της τουριστικής ανάπτυξης με ορίζοντα το 2021. Με στόχο τα 24 εκατ. αφίξεις και την αύξησης της κατά κεφαλήν δαπάνης κατά 15 – 20%, ο τουρισμός μπορεί να επιτύχει το 2021, άμεσα έσοδα 18 – 19 δισ. Ευρώ και συνολικά          48 – 50 δισ. Ευρώ στο ΑΕΠ της χώρας. Για να συμβεί αυτό θα απαιτηθούν επενδύσεις 2,5 δισ. Ευρώ, κατ’ έτος. Η μελέτη θα αναλύσει πλήρως τις αγορές στόχους, το πελατειακό μίγμα και ορθή χρονική και χωροταξική κατανομή του, με βάση την δυναμική, αλλά και την φέρουσα ικανότητα των προορισμών. Θα προτείνει τις αναγκαίες υποδομές, τις soft ενέργειες (συστήματα πιστοποίησης σπουδών και κατάρτισης, πιστοποίησης τουριστικών υπηρεσιών, κλπ). Τέλος, ένα αποτελεσματικό μηχανισμό παρακολούθησης. Ένα τέτοιο τουριστικό Master Plan, θα αποτελέσει ένα αναγκαίο και εξαιρετικά αποτελεσματικό εργαλείο στη σωστή κατανομή του νέου ΕΣΠΑ 2014 – 2020, για το ειδικό χωροταξικό του τουρισμού, τον επενδυτικό νόμο, αλλά και τη στρατηγική των αποκρατικοποιήσεων και προσέλκυσης επενδύσεων.

4. Είναι γνωστή και επιτακτική η ανάγκη για το rebranding της χώρας. Ενόψει της επικείμενης στενότερης συνεργασίας του δημόσιου και ιδιωτικού τομέα (Υπουργείο Τουρισμού/ΕΟΤ – Marketing Greece A.E.), επιβάλλεται η ανάπτυξη ενός πλήρους συστήματος branding της χώρας και του τουριστικού της προϊόντος, που θα περιλαμβάνει τα branding concepts και τους πλήρεις οδηγούς εφαρμογής (branding manuals) της χώρας και των γεωγραφικών και θεματικών προορισμών της. Με δεδομένη τη διαχρονική έλλειψη μίας τέτοιας προσέγγισης, αποτελεί πλέον επιτακτική ανάγκη να υπάρξει διεθνής διαγωνισμός για τη δημιουργία ενός τέτοιου συστήματος, το οποίο θα πρέπει να μείνει σταθερό για μία δεκαετία. Στην περίπτωση αυτή ο ΣΕΤΕ προτίθεται να χρηματοδοτήσει το σχετικό οικονομικό έπαθλο.

5. Εξαιρετικής σημασίας, για τη βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη του τουρισμού μας, παράλληλα με την αύξηση της ζήτησης και την βελτίωση της προσφοράς, αποτελεί η φορολογική ανταγωνιστικότητα του εξαγόμενου τουριστικού προϊόντος. Πρέπει να ολοκληρωθεί ένα δίκαιο, αποτελεσματικό και αναπτυξιακό φορολογικό πλαίσιο, με σταθερούς και ελκυστικούς φορολογικούς συντελεστές για μία τουλάχιστον πενταετία. Ο ΦΠΑ της εστίασης, το αργότερο από 01.07.13, πρέπει να επανέλθει στο 13% και ο ΦΠΑ της ακτοπλοΐας στο  6,5%, ενώ δεν πρέπει να υπερβεί το 0,66 τοις χιλίοις ο φόρος ακίνητης περιουσίας από το 2014 στα τουριστικά καταλύματα, εξαγωγικά εργαλεία δουλειάς, συμπεριλαμβανομένων τόσο των ιδιοχρησιμοποιούμενων, όσο και των ενοικιαζόμενων.

6. Η έκδοση θεωρήσεων visa Schengen πρέπει να επιταχυνθεί τη φετινή περίοδο ακόμη περισσότερο με ανώτατο όριο τις 24 ώρες, όπως και η χορήγηση σε ελάχιστο ποσοστό 50% θεωρήσεων πολλαπλών εισόδων, τριετούς κατ’ ελάχιστον διάρκειας.
