Le origine di Formello sono etrusche. Lo stesso nome sembra derivi dalla parola latina “forma”, cioè “condotto” o “canale”, a testimonianza della impronta lasciata nel territorio dalla civiltà etrusca attraverso la fittissima rete di cunicoli e canalizzazioni sotterranee che per decine di chilometri caratterizza il sottosuolo della zona di Formello. Dopo la conquista di Veio ad opera dei romani nel 396 a.C. la zona perde importanza e diviene terra di tenute e ville agricole romane. La caduta dell’impero determina anche la caduta di questo sistema e si assiste ad un calo della popolazione...
