Travels to Belize - Punta Gorda, Belize Travel Blog

Travels to Belize - Punta Gorda, Belize Travel Blog | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

Nice travl blog post about a trip from Guatemala to Punta Gorda, Belize. Some nice photos included

"...My trusty wristwatch alarm started chirping at 5:45 AM. The rain hadn't let up one bit since the beginning of the night. Our river taxi was supposed to pick us up at 6 AM to take us upstream to a town called Livingstonwhere a ferry departs only twice a week to Belize. Assuming the heavy rainfall would hinder these plans, I left Whitney to continue dreaming, and figured I'd go check to see if anyone was in the lobby anyway. I grabbed the flashlight to light my way, as Finca Titan only taps into their diesel supply for electricity a few hours a day, and made my way toward the river..."

Postcards of The Day: Finding My Slice of Paradise in Belize

Postcards of The Day: Finding My Slice of Paradise in Belize | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

This is a place that is magical.

"...On the eve of my birthday last week, I visited a place that rendered me speechless. Those who know me know that’s quite a feat. I’ve seen many stunning islands, resorts and sights – all over the Caribbean and right here in Belize. But I’ll admit – this one now ranks in my top 3 most memorable travel experiences. It even pains me to post this photo, because it reminds me of how much I miss being there and how magical my time was!.."

My trip to Belize

My trip to Belize | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

Another blog post about a trip to Belize with photos.

"...Well, there is not much to do or see in Belize City. The place is kinda ugly, dirty, so I didn't care of taking pics of that either. But in the video that will be posted, you can see a small city close to BC that was kinda sweet. The next day, we took a boat and went to Ambergris Caye. What a magical little island where everybody rides golf cars. I really enjoyed my day there and walked around barefoot, haha!.."

Nice blog post of a trip through Belize.

"...We really treated ourselves for Christmas though! Birds Eye View Lodge in Crooked Tree was a lovely treat and quite a fancy place with great food and nice rooms. We Orange Iguana.About 4 ft long.

had three great days of bird/wildlife watching, whilst canoeing and hiking in the area! Some of the highlights were spotting a small crocodile from the canoe, watching orange iguanas bask in the sun in the tree-tops and drinking delicious cashew wine at night at the lodge..."

Briana’s Postcards From Paradise: Belize

Briana’s Postcards From Paradise: Belize | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

Great collection of images from Belize.

"...When I was 22, I was in college in San Francisco and working as a waitress in a Mexican restaurant. Of course in the moment I am never aware of this, but I think I was content. Life was manageable and with the structure of university and it seemed anything was possible as long as I applied myself. With lofty goals in mind I created a laundry list of them to accomplish my age 30. 8 years seemed forever away..."

A local perspective on a Saturday night in San Pedro along with efforts to control the invasion of lionfish on the barrier reef...and only in Belize would you name a bar/restaurant "Roadkill"...

"...What is one of the most dangerous and dreaded fish in the Caribbean Sea? Bull shark? No. Moray Eel? Nuh uh. It's the small, beautiful but hated lionfish..."

What to do when you bike fails you on Ambergris Caye

What to do when you bike fails you on Ambergris Caye | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

A humerous story on bike repairs on Belize's number one tourist destination.

""Ping" is the sound I've always read that a bike spoke makes when it breaks.  I'd never broken a spoke before.  It's something that typically happens to heavier riders, usually on the rear wheel,..."

Strange Phenomenon seen from Living in Belize

Strange Phenomenon seen from Living in Belize | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

One of the things people do not always consider when moving to the tropics is routine maintenance. Here is an example – On Sunday I was looking for cooler to take to the beach and found many of the zippers were stuck.

Observations from A Belizean Chicken Bus

Observations from A Belizean Chicken Bus | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

Nice blog post.

"...I spend four hours a day, five days a week sitting on Belizean “chicken” buses on the commute between my home town of Punta Gorda and the “banana belt” villages where I work. If it wasn’t for my finely honed ability to sleep anywhere, anytime, I’m not sure I could handle it..."

Family Travel to Belize: The Skinny on San Pedro

Family Travel to Belize: The Skinny on San Pedro | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

Nice article with photos of a family adventure on Ambergris.

"...To get to San Pedro, you must fly to Belize City and either take the water taxi or a puddle jumper air plane. The water taxi was a short hour and 15-minute ride and half the cost, so we opted for that route. Travel Tip: The water taxi makes one quick stop at Caye Caulker before arriving at Ambergris Caye. Remember to stay on the boat at this stop..."

Going Slow in Caye Caulker, Belize

Going Slow in Caye Caulker, Belize | Belize in Social Media | Scoop.it

Nice short blog entry about a few days stay in Caye Caulker, Belize with nice photos and map.

"...We have been in Caye Caulker for the last two days and are sad to be leaving this chill island town tomorrow. Caye Caulker is about 45 minute ferry ride from Belize City (two-hour ride from San Ignacio). It is a small limestone island about 5 miles long and less than a mile wide. It is mostly a back packer tourist town but also has a thriving fishing community. Many of the locals still support themselves this way..."
