Just spent a wonderful week with the SPAGS (spawning aggregations) team from ERI (Environmental Research Institute) at Calabash Caye Field Station on Turneffe Atoll. Wonderful group of talented, dedicated young Belizeans working to understand and protect our marine resources. Won't have time to process the images till mid-May, but selected this one while archiving the RAWs. A school of permit feeding in a 10' layer of green water at the surface near the Elbow swam by (fly fisherman take note...). Loved the sun rays behind them. Off to Cara Blanca Pools this afternoon ... combining SCUBA and jungle this time. Delete the scoop?

Now remember, these sharks are first hooked, then restrained, measured and tagged, all the while struggling and thrashing to be free of lines and hands.
