Print isn’t dead. It just needs some holistic medicine. Not literally, but what if young adult fiction came along with movies and comic books (available in print and digital formats)?

Transmedia Spotlight: Prison Dancer

Prison Dancer. The title itself conjures an iron cage and the love it cannot thwart, the enmity it cannot squelch, the ambition it cannot repress. Billed as “Glee meets Miss Saigon wrapped in a choose your own adventure” (or maybe Oz meets Smash at a sing-along?), Prison Dancer also promises a sometimes lighthearted take “inspired by, but not based on” the lives of inmates in the maximum-security prison at Cebu, in the Philippines, whose en masse choreography of Thriller went viral on YouTube a few years ago and launched something of a group career for the incarcerated men.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious: How to get your transmedia project in front of people | #transmediascoop | Scoop.it

This is a short post about one thing I’ve thought a lot about in the past, which also is an issue I believe many – especially smaller, indie-type – producers of transmedia are confronted with when trying to launch a project: the art of getting your content in front of people.

If you haven’t seen it already check it out and see what you think. Then below I’ve shared the thinking behind the work for anyone interested in hearing a little more.

Modern Mythology: The Story of a Transmedia Revolution: (Part 3) The Rise of The Unbook | #transmediascoop | Scoop.it

In an age of digital storytelling, the distance between author and reader is rapidly shrinking, and the roles those parties play are rapidly changing. One of the most radical concepts that I've come across during my research of transmedia storytelling is the "unbook."

ZED v. ARG (feat. Transmedia) « ZED Project Journal

ZED.TO has been called an ARG, and has been called transmedia, and it is certainly both of those things, which are kinda sorta the same thing (i.e. vague terms meaning less than most people think.) We’re avoiding use these terms in our own literature, because we’re trying to describe the product in a concerete way to a mass audience. But if you’re reading this blog, chances are you’re in the know, and I feel like we owe it to you to explain — what distinguishes this project from the 60,000 other projects being described the same way?

Principles of Social Interaction Design | Johnny Holland

Principles of Social Interaction Design | Johnny Holland | #transmediascoop | Scoop.it

Imperfect and unfinished as any project on contemporary products will be, my Principles of Social Interaction Design is now available for free download. This project has taken a couple of years, and in places bears the marks of a theory worked out over time. Some of my core concepts appeared in my blog posts first. These include the idea of frames — for both conceptualizing interactions, as well as for design thinking. Concepts of mediation, of symbolic tokens, of realtime streams may also be familiar from topics I have blogged about over the years. I have developed these into simple logics.
