New TV series Continuum explores dystopia of corporate hegemony, time travel and human augmentation and establishes a compact transmedia world with strong gaming elements. Even though Canadian network Showcase does not break any new ground, it ties various transmedia episodes in interesting ways and in many occasions creates unclear situations on the borders of the fictional and the meta-fictional discourse. I will try to describe how this small-scale transmedia storytelling works, what are its specifics and how collective intelligence maintains ARG role-playing among various platforms.
While NBC is still taking a social media pummelling for “failing” with what it hails as a record-breaking Olympics audience, the BBC, whose Olympics undertaking has been lauded, is telling the world about its new online records.
On the busiest individual days of London 2012, BBC.co.uk served even more traffic than during the whole of the 2012 soccer World Cup, BBC Olympics product head Cait O’Riordan writes (release). That number is 2.8 percent petabytes.

Beside near-day-long coverage across five of its nine linear TV channels, the corporation had cast up to 2,500 hours of live action (every minute of every event) on its website for desktop, smartphone and tablet and through up to 24 simultaneous live streams available online, through internet TVs and via satellite and cable TV.

Here's an interesting approach to Augmented Reality marketing: turn hats into Zombie heads.
The Zaphat (pronounced like Zap Hat, not Zafat) is a new line of fashion apparel where the logo on the accoutrement acts as the target for an iOS/Android app that uses Augmented Reality to transform the wearer into an avatar of their choice.
In other words, when you wear a special hat, people can look at you with an app and see a Zombie instead of your head and then take a picture of you.
This takes personal branding to a new level and is meant to be a fun experience and a way to create images for your social network.
As long as the hat is comfortable, stylish and competitively priced I find it hard to see what’s not to like here. Being able to make you look like a Zombie is icing on the cake.
The Zaphat (and accompanying app) all developed by Zappar, could easily be popular in youth markets, and is obviously expandable to different pieces of clothing, allowing for an entire doppelganger wardrobe to be associated with any clothing line. That’s an interesting idea.
It’s a novelty product right now but some could say much of fashion is novelty anyway. So really, this product could fit into the greater world of style with nary a dispute by the fanciful lords of fashion, don’t you think?

Me voilà au point mort. Après avoir réalisé des films personnels et politiques, je me suis jeté corps et âme dans la bataille du transmédia. Les cultures numériques ont fait émerger depuis une décennie des outils qui bouleversent la création, comment ne pas s'en emparer? Cette découverte modifie profondément les schémas de pensée, c'est plus qu'une révolution, donc c'est passionnant pour tout auteur ou créateur.
