''I'm trying to explore different types of emotions, in continuing to explore this strange relationship that the game can establish with a player that is very different to the relationship between a film and an audience,'' he says. ''When you watch a film you are passive, you cannot change what is going on, but when you play an interactive game you become an actor, you can actually change the story. This is really fascinating."

RainboWillis's curator insight, October 3, 2013 1:26 PM

I've played some of these interactive, narrative type games, and have even found myself emotionally moved by some of them (The Walking Dead games, Heavy Rain, etc.). It is an interesting medium, burdened under the historical disregard of choose-your-own-adventure stories. I, myself, can't entirely cast aside my own skepticism, but this will be a game that I will wait to see.

Nathan Schultz's curator insight, November 25, 2015 4:49 PM

In an open letter to JJ Abrams, ad agency Sincerely Truman offers some advice to the future Star Wars director on various storytelling elements that he can use to improve his movies.  This article is interesting for two reasons:  1.  It's about Star Wars, and

2.  It shows how an ad agency, by tapping into consumer demographics, has created a list of things that the public wants to see in their Star Wars movies.  In short, Star Wars is being treated like a product, which the director has to shape into a form that is more palatable to audiences.  In short, marketing is affecting storytelling.
