The Content Marketing Pyramid: Are You Hungry for Content? | Business 2 Community

The Content Marketing Pyramid: Are You Hungry for Content? | Business 2 Community | Storytelling Content Transmedia | Scoop.it

From 140-character tweets to 14,000-word print books, most content marketers now understand the value of producing content of varying lengths and format. But those that try to churn out equally high volumes of content at every length will soon find themselves collapsing from sheer exhaustion. Enter the Content Marketing Pyramid, a framework which I first blogged about in 2010. Some have compared this content model to the old model of the food pyramid, and there are a few similarities. Both pyramids stress the importance of creating a strong foundation and building on that foundation with segments that are consumed (or created) at increasingly smaller intervals....

Nicholas Barr's curator insight, May 21, 2013 10:49 AM

Despite the headline this has very little, if anything, to do with social TV and ultimately nothing to do with challenging Twitter. However, it does touch on a big opportunity for a second-screen use case. IMDb is one of the primary destinations for those "what has she been in before?" moments when people reach for their second-screens. However, currently X-ray for Movies does not sync with the TV screen. In fact at the moment it is designed to be used while watching content on Kindle Fires. But, you have to pause the movie to access the app. So, it's not really a second-screen experience either... yet. So to sum up, the article was written by someone who doesn't have a clue about the subject area, but is food for thought nonetheless.

Gary, in your opinion Mary-José Monpetit refers to tv set or television (contents for television)? because tv set in my idea is one of the available screens. In a transmedial point of view tv screen content tells the leading part of the story but even in this case is just a screen.

LucaVanin - It can have the same connotation of untruth in the west; just depends on context (and who's paying!) In Entertainment, of course, no one worries about superficial truth. Even (especially?) in Reality TV. What matters is the universal truth that stories can deliver. That is the real litmus test of truth.

Reed Hastings, the chief executive of Netflix, sat down for an editorial board meeting with the Financial Post..

On Canada's download caps:

“It’s a deterrent to Canadian society that exists nowhere else in the world. In Britain, everything is uncapped,” he told the Post. “In the U.S., on Comcast for $45 a month [you get] 300 gigabytes and then [each extra] 10 gigabytes is like a dollar.”

 On the future of apps:

"It will be completely compatible to have a Netflix app, to have a Rogers app, to have a movie channel app, to have YouTube as an app," he said.

"Because in the broadest sense, we compete for relaxation time. … You go home, the kids are in bed, you want to watch something to relax, you've got many choices."....
