Oh how true this is Al...! Especially when a supervisor's personality style is much different than an employee's. Introversion vs. Extraversion...I've seen it happen as well as had it happen to me numerous times!
AlGonzalezinfo's comment, May 21, 2013 9:48 PM
Thanks Robin, I have to admit I caught myself many times doing this when I started using leadership development tools and trying to improve the trust level with my staff members. As anyone can lead, we can all challenge our own assumptions and help develop trust with others. When we do this, the process of influencing positive change becomes much easier.

AR has been year on year ready for a big explosion since 2008 but no major investment meant it has languished, but I think AR and VR are actually good bed fellows and need each other to exist and grow - hence why this infographic and bullish market figures starts to make a lot more sense - Quote "

Manatt Digital Media has outlined the up-and-coming players in the virtual and augmented reality industry - and potential revenue opportunities for the tech which remains in its infancy.

‘The Reality of VR and AR’ report delves into how much has been invested in the medium, mapping the potential revenue streams of the tech and more.

Facebook's purchase of Oculus (the makers of the Oculus Rift) remains the biggest development in the industry to date, although similarly large quantities of cash have been invested in rival firms."

Transmedia Storytelling: An Entrepreneurial Approach - The Friendly Toast

Transmedia Storytelling: An Entrepreneurial Approach - The Friendly Toast | Transmedia online | Scoop.it
The concept of transmedia production, as both a creative template and business model, is by no means a novel one. Cinema pioneers began to experience a cross-media approach to storytelling 100 years ago, but today’s audiences are in a position to choose the content they want, when they want and on the device of their choice. In other words, the expectation contemporary audiences presume you’ll meet is; any content, anywhere. In the context of a shrinking market populated by increasingly fragment

Nuno Bernardo:  "In the context of a shrinking market populated by increasingly fragmented audiences, transmedia storytelling provides a viable alternative to the conventional TV and Film production business."

Nathan Schultz's curator insight, November 25, 2015 4:54 PM

This article provides a perspective on transmedia storytelling from a more pragmatic standpoint:  It is easy to say that good multimedia storytelling involves multiple different platforms all working together, but it is much harder to impliment this idea, from a purely economic standpoint.  Making a movie or video game is vastly more expensive than writing and publishing a book, just to give an example.

This article helps to tackle that problem by explaining how entrepreneurs can best sell their ideas to companies or developers who have the capital to provide support for their projects.

Virtual reality is big news at the moment, with the likes of the HTC Vive, the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift and the Sony PlayStation VR promising to transport us to all-new and completely immersive digital worlds.

But it’s not just in the field of gaming that VR is making an impact. There are a number of virtual reality experiences out there that don’t require any gaming interest or dexterity to enjoy whatsoever, from apps to public events or even checking your street out on Google Cardboard."

Once again my story colleague in Israel Limor Shiponi has brought us a unique and very insightful article about what happens physically to tellers and audiences when storytelling.

It is rare to find an article that talks about this. And yet it is critical to understand for anyone who is working with stories in the business arena (or any arena actually).

This is where training in performance storytelling can be a huge assist to business storytellers -- because the physical aspects of storytelling and story sharing are part of the training. As is deep listening to the audience, which is another dynamic that is going on the two anecdotes shared.

Oh, and could the photo and quote shared from the Dalai Lama be any more perfect?!

I hope you enjoy this article and gain some insights into the physicality of business storytelling.

I love this idea - what a way to transform the irritation of waits in queues, not to mention all the other possibilities for this approach to story sharing.

Judith van Praag's curator insight, October 19, 2015 1:54 PM
Picking up a story while waiting, or on your way to the next destination. Seeing the headline my first association was with the Story Chairs an audiovisual project conceived and executed by Seattle artist/writer Tina Hogatt. Yours truly contributed a story to the series that visitors to Jack Straw Productions Gallery could enjoy seated in an especially constructed easy listening chair. My response to the story dispenser is two-fold. On one hand I applaud the idea that a larger audience is exposed to the work of short story writers, on the other hand I think stories are unfolding all around us, and allowing people to look around, and see what's going on in their environment, giving them room to spin their own tales ought to have room, or space to develop. My thought: provide a short short, or flash fiction piece, AND encourage the reader to look around and create their own narrative.

Whether you are a small business owner creating blog posts, a corporate content creator, a leader giving lots of presentations, or a nonprofit seeking to share its stories with the world, we all face the same problem: -- how to generate enough stories.

The folks at CopyBlogger wrote this piece for all of us in that predicament. Their focus is blogging, of course, But the principles, tips, and advice laid out here applies to all of the situations above.

The fundamental idea shared here is how to create a serialized story. If you read this post you will learn about:

  1. experiencing content shock
  2. creating empathy maps
  3. doing the right kind of research
  4. how to storyboard
  5. finding the hook
  6. repurposing your serialized story

And it's all in one nice and tidy place. Yeah!
