The Social Media Monthly, was named on Tuesday, December 5th, 2011 as one of the hottest magazine launches of 2011 by MIN, an organization that reports on the publishing industry, and Samir “Mr. Magazine” Husni. Of the more than eight hundred new magazine launches over the last twelve months, The Social Media Monthly was recognized among a select group of fifteen as this year’s hottest.
The December issue features a cover design by graphic design artist Jonathan Lamb. The cover portrays a family peering into a store window during the holidays excited by all the new social media toys on display. Feature articles include a review of the Occupy Wall Street protests and how the loosely knit organization leveraged social media between groups of protestors around the world written by Adriel Hampton, as well an in-depth look at the growing children’s app market for smartphones and tablets written by Julie Brannon.
