This article requires more thought; I like Scoop.it for myself and for saving things I really find thought provoking, but I'm very hesitant to have kids use it--it's too easy to scoop without reading or adding any value. How do we get to the high value, "manual" approach? Take another read through this article and determine how that can be done. I like the graphics, but I think more research needs to be done to explore what the author is saying briefly here. Delete the scoop?

Simple changes that we can make in order to make our work places and classrooms more motivating for students. It certainly suggests to me that making kids struggle a bit isn't a bad thing. That's what makes them proudest -- when they are able to accomplish the hard thing. Delete the scoop?

In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult, even shameful, to be an introvert.

This talk, although longer (19 min), was worth watching because of its focus on a topic we don't hear much about right now in education.
Susan talks about how constant collaboration and group work leads people away from deep individual thought and creativity because the loudest voice leads the group down the path of his or her own thinking rather than letting each person figure out what he or she thinks first, mull it over, and THEN come to the group prepared and ready to hear what others think and to collaborate. Good point.
On a side note, after listening to this, I bet Nancie Atwell, author of In The Middle (reading and writing workshops), is an introvert. She suggests that a lot of independent work can have great results. Delete the scoop?
