12 year-old develops handwriting-to-speech app, HandySpeech - NUANCE | Transhumanism Network | Scoop.it

"At just 12 years old, Eric Zeiberg developed HandySpeech for iOS – a handwriting-to-speech application that allows individuals to draw on a smartphone or tablet screen with their finger and have the text read aloud. HandySpeech leverages several advanced technologies, including Nuance voice technology via the NDEV Mobile developer program. It's now recognized by leading professionals and institutions as a valuable application for individuals with speech and hearing challenges."

Why we're all so obsessed with deep learning | Transhumanism Network | Scoop.it
Deep learning is all the rage among the tech scene right now, and that’s more a result of its utility than because it sounds cool. Some questioned the feasibility of the Secret Service’s requested “sarcasm detector,” but deep learning could help there, too.

First living thing with ‘alien’ DNA created in the lab: We are now officially playing God | ExtremeTech

First living thing with ‘alien’ DNA created in the lab: We are now officially playing God | ExtremeTech | Transhumanism Network | Scoop.it
Scientists have succeeded in creating the first organism with 'alien' DNA. In normal DNA, which can be found within the genes of every organism , the twin strands of the double helix are bonded together with four bases, known as T, G, A, and C. In this new organism, the researchers added two new bases, X and Y, creating a new form of DNA that has never occurred in billions of years of evolution on Earth or elsewhere in the universe. Remarkably, the semi-synthetic alien organism continued to reproduce normally, preserving the new alien DNA during reproduction. In the future, this breakthrough should allow for the creation of highly customized organisms -- bacteria, animals, humans -- that behave in weird and wonderful ways that mundane four-base DNA would never allow.

Cyborgism Vs Augmentism Vs Hybridism - what will you choose.

Cyborgism Vs Augmentism Vs Hybridism - what will you choose. | Transhumanism Network | Scoop.it

Cyborgism Vs Augmentism Vs Hybridism, sort of sounds like a title from a science fiction book series, conjuring up images of terminator like robots battling perfect looking humans and Hybrid Man/Machines with energy weapons while the fate of the planet rests in the balance.

The image might not be far from reality in this case however, and it’s hard to admit something like that might ever happen but with the technologies that we are working on to improve the human condition there are some disturbing things coming to light which might , with the passage of time cause humanity to develop diverging paths to ensure continued existence and might possibly create factions,  creating a rift between people who make those essential and compulsory choices.

When push comes to shove, would you decide on becoming a robot a genetically enhanced human or a hybird? , many won’t see a difference either way but when you get down to the core of each technology there are significant differences that will essentially create a rift between the entire species on selection of any one of the three core tech concepts.

Let me clarify hear what i mean by Cyborgism , Augmentism and Hybridism so we can be on the same page as we further the discussion.
