"it is imperative that schools and educators make content discoverable and share it" How are libraries in schools taking up this challenge? How are we collecting and making accesible the knowledge that is generated from within our own schools digitally (and physically)?
A free resource to you with the hopes it will help you to find new ways to keep tying digital tools into your classrooms. They are produced under Creative Commons, so please feel free!

Curation is the act of individuals with a passion for a content area to find, contextualize, and organize information. Curators provide a consistent update regarding what's interesting, happening, and cool in their focus. Via Joyce Valenza
Content curation is the ongoing finding and sharing of relevant digital and non-digital content about a specific topic for a specific audience. Typically, this content will come from a variety of properly credited sources and will be collated in such a way that the collection will be more useful than its individual elements. "Over the last couple of years, I’ve come to think of my role as a teacher as that of a curator of ideas" says Corinne Weisgerber who teaches Social Media and Communication at St Edwards Unniversity in Austin, TX (if you haven't yet, check out her great prez here).
As she explained in this post, the Curation Project was about getting her students "to set up a network of online mentors using social media tools" and "to identify experts in their field and connect with them in order to build a personal learning network (PLN)."
The idea behing the PNL is to help them discover valuable information through social search that they wouldn't have discovered otherwise.
Interesting project and read.
And great work by the students who used various curation platforms for the project, including Storify and Scoop.it (links in the post) Via gdecugis, Kim Tairi
"When a few Hughes Middle School parents learned that next year's budget cuts would include cutting the school library and librarian's hours by half next year, they decided to do something." This is key to the advocacy conversation - ensuring your community understands your value so they actively support the library in good times and difficult ones. Via lyn_hay

Curation, Curation, Curation - Lots of great content in this month's Collected about Curation and school libraries
What is the mission of your library. Glenda connects the role of the library to Maslow's heirarchy of needs. A thought provoking read.
Paper and ink, make way for the digital book. Everything from the latest bestsellers to classic, textbook tomes are getting the e-reader treatment, but who exactly is skipping the library in favor of a Kindle?

Take a look to see how one school librarian has "flipped" a video to make a customised lesson!
By using Creative Commons licenses in the library and classroom you help your students to understand copyright; how it is used on the internet, the importance of licensing their own work and respecting the work of others in an online environment, ultimately making them a more prepared digital citizen. Download the poster and use in your classroom and library to help learners and teachers to use CC licences.
Re-visiting Joyce Valenza's Manifesto for school librarians, Part one- thinking about the future, acknowledging the best of the past. School libraries into the future... What will be important in your school library in 2017?
The reality is that teacher librarians can be the best person to have in your school – but only if they have actually learnt how to fill that role well, and have understood and assimilated the principles of embedded librarianship.
If you are a keen user of FlickrCC attribution helper, then you will certainly want to help yourself to the update! Via Judy O'Connell
