Love this: " the dissenting voice gets stifled when it is not well received." The dissenting voice often includes divergent pieces that are missing in an otherwise brilliant body of work. Listen carefully. Good could become better .

It is so important to teach your employees to speak truth to power. If your management team has 10 people and they ALL agree with you ALL of the time, then 9 are redundant. It's the ability to harnass a variety of perspectives that distinguishes a high performing team. Delete the scoop?

True, reflection is a key. I have had an accident when I was 15 years of age that left me on a hospital bed for a long time. I had plenty of time to reflect there about my life and what I want to do with it ... When I got out of that hospital, I was a changed man. I keep a journal now and it still continues to make a difference in my life. Reflecting on what is happening ... What made a difference? Rule number 1 - know yourself, Rule number 2 - know who you want to become, Rule number 3 - work towards that vision with patience until you start seeing the fruits of your work. It works, but it takes time and effort :-)
