The focus of her studies have been in fan culture and fan engagement, transmedia storytelling, and the future of communications in the Age of Convergence (or “Convergence Culture,” as Henry Jenkins has called it).
She's also a member of Civic Paths, a research group led by Henry Jenkins and Sangita Shrestova at USC Annenberg that explores the continuities between online participatory culture and civic engagement.

Futures of Entertainment is an annual event exploring the current state and future of media properties, brands, and audiences. This year's event, Nov. 11-12 at MIT, will look at how media producers and audiences are relating to one another in new ways in a spreadable media landscape.
