This is especially true as education systems react to both external pressure, and internal instinct to change into something closer to truly progressive learning environments."

Det er vigtigt at være sig selv bevidst om hvordan vi opfatter elevernes indsat for at blive bedre til noget, og ligeledes hvad det er vi rose og værdsætter. Er det indsatsen eller målet for indsatsen.

Why Do Public Schools Have a Teacher Shortage?

Why Do Public Schools Have a Teacher Shortage? | Transformational Teaching and Technology | Scoop.it
Answer by Judy Levy Pordes, retired teacher, school leader for 40 years:   Teaching is not a particularly well-respected position. Many people do not want to be a part of a profession that is often looked down upon. Too many of today's politicians and corporate leaders talk about the poor...
Chris Carter's insight:

"So why is there a teacher shortage? No money, no respect, inappropriate evaluations and expectations, and the availability of many more options now for women."

Bonnie Bracey Sutton's curator insight, August 27, 6:07 AM

The press had been battering teachers for all of last year. The testing proponents blamed teachers for the ills of society. People resented the pensions and some teachers were scandalized trying to meet the testing goals by cheating. Surprised? No one should be. There has bee an attack on the teaching profession.

misfit helps you track your fitness | tech tools daily #4 - tech tools daily | BAM Radio Pulse

misfit helps you track your fitness | tech tools daily #4 - tech tools daily | BAM Radio Pulse | Transformational Teaching and Technology | Scoop.it

We all want to be healthier and a huge number of people make health related new year’s resolutions each year but we don’t always reach our goals.  The Misfit is a new fitness tracker that allows you to keep track of your steps and sleep and helps to show you if you are making progress in your goals.  It gives you graphs to show how your sleep and steps are progressing during the week and  integrates with other fitness apps like myfitnesspal to help give you data about your eating and overall health.  If you’ve heard of the jawbone or fitbit this is basically the same idea except that this one doesn’t break after a few months.  The other benefit of the misfit uses LED lights to show you your progress so the battery inside will last for a couple years before you need to change it.  It is fully waterproof and comes with a few methods of attaching (clip for your clothing, band for your wrist) and you can purchase more (a leather band, necklace, etc.) If you want a simple fitness tracker to help motivate you towards better health, this is a good choice.

6 Tips For Creating Effective Student Groups - TeachThought

6 Tips For Creating Effective Student Groups - TeachThought | Transformational Teaching and Technology | Scoop.it
Grouping students is easy; creating effective student groups is less so.

The following infographic from Mia MacMeekin seeks to provide some ideas to help make group work easier in your classroom. The strength of this particular graphic is in the range of the ideas. The first tip refers teachers to Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal development, which frames student ability in terms of a range: what they can do unassisted, what they can do with the support of a More Knowledgeable Other (MKO), and what they cannot do even with support. This is different for each student, and understanding these ranges for students can help inform grouping decisions, whether you’re using a peer instruction model, ability grouping, or another approach.
