Domey Nakhalath's curator insight, March 22, 2015 12:51 AM

I find this video hilarious, it has no concept or relation to OHS however it does outline the importance of training at any workplace. Employees need training and mentoring to perform their duties to the company's standards.

Training is an integral part of the management of health and safety within an organisation. Organisations should promote appropriate training for employees in workplace health and safety matters, in accordance with health and safety policy.  Employees should be encouraged to use their training to contribute to the health and safety of all persons via hazard identification, reporting and participation in health and safety problem solving.

Training is about reinforcing behaviours and processing with individual employees, by doing that you’re ensuring that their aware of the safe way to carry out tasks however you can’t just reply on training, there needs to be regular day to day practice to reinforce these behaviours. Consequences should be applied if employees are not cooperating policy and procedures. In five years’ time, I hope to see myself implementing and rolling out these training programs such as hazardous chemical training, manual handling training, inductions and fire safety. By providing these training, I would hope that the employees are confident and feel at ease working at the workplace.
