Chinese authorities have ordered Muslim shopkeepers and restaurant owners in a village in its troubled Xinjiang region to sell alcohol and cigarettes, and promote them in “eye-catching displays,” in an attempt to undermine Islam’s hold on local residents, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported. Establishments that failed to comply were threatened with closure and their owners with prosecution.

£5000 reward for information on sexual assault

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £5,000 for information after a sexual assault in Nottingham.

A 20-year-old woman was attacked in the Radford area of Nottingham in the early hours of April 12, as she walked home from a night out.

It happened in a car park on Randal Street, between 2am and 2:30am.

CCTV footage shows a man walking along adjoining Radford Road at about the time of the incident. Police think this man may have vital information about the incident and anyone who recognises him is asked to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
