Cass Tindall's curator insight, March 26, 8:24 PM

I have a background in mining and in the union (both the CFMEU and Women in Mining), fighting for worker’s rights are something that I am passionate about. Especially when it comes to temporary and immigrant workers – these guys should all be treated equally, no matter how long you think they’ll last.

These 13 steps should be implemented in all workplaces and supported by everyone. You don’t have to be a union representative to voice your opinion, attend union meetings if you can or contact a friend or someone who runs the meetings to bring up your opinion.

Unions are slowing supporting both men and women in the workplace, especially when it comes to making changes to the working agreement (i.e. longer hours, working through lunches, not being paid the amount agreed upon etc.)

Being in a union is something that I want all of my future employees to be part of, to fight for their rights as an employee and for a fair go. It’s time people starting standing up for themselves not only to businesses but to the political representatives.

Rodney Dorron's curator insight, March 27, 9:10 AM

How much of this is pertinent in Australia? Just how committed is our government towards worker safety and protection? How do we change this? And how far do we have to go as the future of this country to ensure the changes make things better?
