t's J.J. Abrams' world, and we just watch it. Not long after Fox announced that one of its new series for 2013-2014will be the Abrams-produced futuristic cop drama "Almost Human," NBC touted its own pickup of an Abrams joint, "Believe," about an orphaned 10-year-old girl with extraordinary abilities who's given over to the protection of a wrongfully imprisoned death row inmate. The show is executive produced, written and directed by no less than Alfonso Cuarón. Abrams has a current series at NBC -- "Revolution," which has already been given a renewal.
Also among the network's new series is Jason Katims' TV adaptation of "About a Boy," directed by Jon Favreau and starring David Walton, Minnie Driver and Benjamin Stockham, and hostage thriller "Crisis," from "Life" creator Rand Ravich and starring Dermot Mulroney, Gillian Anderson, Lance Gross and Rachael Taylor. Comedy "Sean Saves the World" is another doubling up for NBC -- it comes from star Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner, who executive produce the network's supernatural procedural "Grimm."
