There is, I guess a plus point for sellers in using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to conduct research in identifiying their custormers and their requirements. As we graduate to content marketing in a big way, the whole idea of researching the client or the customer has become all the more importent!

This was interesting to see what states are doing to drive tourism and show off what they have to offer. I liked that Philly was in there since I've been there before and I learned some things that were innovative and fun that other states are doing. Idaho for example has a contest where you put yourself in their travel videos (like jib jab or elf yourself) and you can win a vacation just by creating the video. South Carolina has a promotional video supporting artists throughout the state and they have a BBQ Trail Map so you can literally eat your way through the state! Internationally Australia's marketing campaign was interesting too and it is a cool idea to be abel to travel and work there with indigenous animals or be a taste tester for six months with free travel and $100,000 to be self-sustained while there. Overall i enjoyed all of these campaigns and would definitely look into most of them.

Gary Hayes's curator insight, January 25, 2016 10:19 PM

Quote "Pure environmental wandering isn't an unusual idea, but it tends to be seen in experiences that are a few hours long at most, like seminal "walking game" Dear Esther. Even the non-traditional Telltale games are almost nonstop cinematic events and conversations, and Amnesia developer Frictional relies on puzzles, jump scares, and fragments of books and diaries to draw players through its worlds. Has anyone done something this big that's purely explorational? "I don't think anyone is telling a narrative" in that way, he says, so The Abbot's Tale will be the first."

How to Build Your 2016 Influencer Strategy

How to Build Your 2016 Influencer Strategy | Tourism Storytelling, Social Media and Mobile | Scoop.it

Influencer marketing was huge in 2015. Just take a look – it’s been on a pretty fast trajectory recently:That presents a challenge to marketers who have been doing it for awhile. Sure, you might have a network that’s engaged with your content and a few VIPs you can rely on to help promote,  but they’re getting busier as more companies try to work with them.

With more companies start sending outreach emails, it’s getting harder to get the attention of your targets. The key is following the right steps in planning, research, and nurturing relationships consistently.

To demonstrate the entire process from start to finish, Paul May, co-founder of BuzzStream, joined us for a webinar last week walked us through the real, complete influencer strategy involved in the launch of a previous BuzzStream ebook....

Now that digital marketing has gone mainstream some business practices have become almost boring. Indeed, the Facebook page, Instagram hashtag competitions and Twitter customer service are no longer the exciting breakthroughs they once were.
But in 2015 there were still plenty of new developments in tools, technologies and methods that were adopted enthusiastically by the travel industry.
