20 Fab Ways to Actually Tell Your Stories On Social Media

20 Fab Ways to Actually Tell Your Stories On Social Media | Tourism Storytelling, Social Media and Mobile | Scoop.it
Is it possible to narrate a story with social media posts that are supposed to be short and sweet? Yes! Here're 20 creative social media storytelling ideas.

Karen Dietz's curator insight, February 22, 11:31 AM

In all my years of curating, I've looked at tons of articles promoting storytelling on social media. The problem? The posts are not really about storytelling. They are about photo sharing, 140-character opinions, posting links, and anything else you can think of. There's been mention of your collective tweets/posts/photos adding up to "your story" -- but that's a vague notion at best. None of this is really helpful.

Finally Alfred Lua from Buffer has written an intelligent piece that really does talk about storytelling -- yes, real stories -- and how to do it on different social media platforms. Yay!

Go grab these ideas and start having a field day sharing your stories.

Stories enable us to build personality and create a connection with consumers. But can we actually tell a story on social media? Is it possible to narrate a story with social media posts that are supposed to be short and sweet?

It turns out there are many ways to use social media for storytelling!

Quote "I’m excited about Augmented Reality because unlike Virtual Reality which closes the world out, AR allows individuals to be present in the world but hopefully allows an improvement on what’s happening presently. Most people don’t want to lock themselves out from the world for a long period of time and today you can’t do that because you get sick from it. With AR you can, not be engrossed in something, but have it be a part of your world, of your conversation. That has resonance."
Vivalist's curator insight, February 27, 8:30 AM
Not that I usually relay Apple's communications, but it is always interesting to see where they put their money. I am not surprised of their conclusion as AR seems to be way more easily deployable than VR. It's pretty much there already, no fancy hardware or resource demanding software required. Just ideas for execution and a few technological tweak along the way.

And Niantic Labs projects, among others, already showed the huge potential of AR when it comes to entertainment (as a whole, because in today's world, I do count information as a form of entertainment)

When Will Augmented Reality Get Real?

When Will Augmented Reality Get Real? | Tourism Storytelling, Social Media and Mobile | Scoop.it

Augmented reality, or AR, is technology that blends virtual content with real-world surroundings. Unlike virtual reality, which immerses you in a self-contained digital world, AR overlays 3D graphics and interactive characters into your everyday world.

In the hit game Pokémon Go, players use their smartphones to catch Pokémon characters in the local park or at the office. Released in July 2016, the game was downloaded faster than any mobile app in history and generated nearly $1 billion in revenue in its first six months.

Yet despite Pokémon Go's huge numbers, when surveyors asked average Americans what they thought about augmented reality, the majority of people didn't have a clue. In a ReportLinker survey conducted last September — the same month that Pokémon Go downloads topped 500 million — 58 percent of Americans said they were "not at all familiar with" augmented reality. Awareness was slightly higher among famously connected millennials.

First of all, lets imagine that in the classroom the students will be able to handle this resource in order to increase their speaking and reading skills in one tool. I know that this is something utopian in our context not only because of the price of the product and  the scarce technological resources that some schools face. However, this does not imply that the product can not be used.

Maybe, one day this kind of resources will be implemented here in Colombia.
