Games allow us to explore uncharted worlds, enhance our own creativity and help us understand and solve complex problems in ways we never thought possible. Next-generation gaming experiences should keep these core ideals alive. If all else fails, games should ultimately just be fun, right?

Michael Epstein and Mike Knowlton:  "Transmedia writer and director Lance Weiler predicts that a “more social, more connected, more personalized wave of media” is coming, in stride with the platforms and practices of the new generation. But, like any new media form, there will probably be a lot of borrowing from older forms and audiences will take a while to warm up."

Kate Abrosimova:  "The craft of storytelling is experiencing a sea-change in its development. Putting a viewer in the event directly with the help of virtual reality technology is what journalists are likely to be doing in the next decade."

Minna Kilpeläinen's curator insight, January 12, 2015 4:35 PM

If journalists want to raise real awareness of what is going on in the world, they can´t just offer the audience facts and images.  They also have to give possibilities to feel the reality. Nonny de la Peña´s Project Syria is a great example of it.

Mervi Rauhala's curator insight, January 13, 2015 1:42 AM

A truly interesting project which could increase sense of empathy and understanding.

Melanie Ehrenkranz and 'digital culture guru' Frank Rose  discuss "how the future of storytelling will largely be shaped not just by the shiny new tech toys of the now and near future, but also largely on how storytellers integrate them into narrative practices of the past."

Kajsa Hartig's curator insight, October 21, 2015 1:28 AM

"I think that VR is an incredible tool, but it’s not synonymous with immersion. As with any other technology it’s only as immersive as the storyteller is skillful."

Frank Rose:  'In an article in Admap a couple of years back, noted branded content guy Graham Hodge said some very nice things about The Art of Immersion but observed quite rightly that the book "stops short of offering advice to brands."'

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's curator insight, July 13, 2014 11:29 AM

Great idea. I would love to go there -

Mattia Nicoletti's curator insight, July 14, 2014 4:04 AM

In the whole world of entertainment immersive experience (even social tv and second screen may be considered a kind of immersive experience) is getting more and more important. Transmedia is taking place and creativity, good writying (and a good budget) is all you need to leverage storytelling to the next level.
