5 Digital Marketing Trends for 2015

5 Digital Marketing Trends for 2015 | Tourism Social Media | Scoop.it

I know, it’s always a tricky thing to (try to) predict the future but it’s also a fun exercise. It’s a sound way to reflect about the past year and seeing bits and pieces that amount to, sometimes, an upcoming trend.

5 Digital Marketing trends for 2015

I enjoyed this article because It predicts what some of the trends for the upcoming year will be. I can, as a marketer, sense that some of these will be true, and look forward to what the future holds. For example, the article discussed how mobile payments will go mainstream.

Mobile payments such as the use of Apple Pay, will be considered the next innovative way to handle finances. Essentially this is creating a payment environment that is extremely efficient and effective. The use of mobile payment will pave the way for the future. Another important takeaway from this article was social media advertising. I found this to be extremely relevant to class because the course itself is dealing with social media marketing. Twitter and Linkedin are making use of advertising as discussed throughout the article. "Other social media are now being a lot more aggressive in appealing to advertisers, namely Twitter and Linkedin which have both developed more sophisticated advertising tools allowing savvy targeting and intricate performance measurement."

The use of smart watches I believe will not be as effective as the article discusses because I don't see a high demand for them. The last but one of the most important takeaways from this article is the accessibility of analytics readily available to consumers. The article discusses how Google Analytics allows for companies to track social media, and many other logistics to their pages. This article was very intuitive and related to our course.

Is 2015 the year mobile payments finally become mainstream?

Fabio Paschini's curator insight, November 16, 5:25 AM
Concordo... "While I remain skeptical about the “internet of things” and wearable technologies in general – how are those Google Glasses coming along, anyway? I do believe 2015 may sound the beginning of a new era with smart watches, here again following in the footsteps of Apple’s new watch, due to hit markets in January."

How social media is changing the way we travel | Tourism Social Media | Scoop.it

Sleep in a stranger’s house, join a dinner party where you know no one, hire a bike from a local ... The boom in collaborative social travel continues apace, with locals catering directly for travellers wanting a more real (or cheaper) deal.
