Denmark Is Telling Tourists How to Hashtag Better

Denmark Is Telling Tourists How to Hashtag Better | Tourism marketing | Scoop.it

"While many cities have launched social media hashtag campaigns in hopes of turning tourists’ posts into crowdsourced content and a low-cost marketing plan, VisitDenmark has found a dummy-proof way to get tourists onboard and boost its destination profile.

The tourism board recently identified some of the most shared landmarks throughout the country, including a stretch of cliffs along the Danish island Mon, Egeskov Castle, and the town of Skagen. It then placed an actual sign in each of the destinations with a location-specific hashtag."

How social media feedback helps to redefine hotel branding

Social media is an ever changing process of staying connected. What started out with limited instant messaging over two decades ago has grown into Google+, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, Vine and so on. Consumers and business owners alike are aware of the power of feedback on social media. The comment, rating or feedback sections of business pages are frequently the first tab clicked and the most thoroughly read. What is the line between too good photography and not good enough? Where is a hotel going to over-sell and where does it under-deliver? Great examples of reality marketing and it's results.

GemaGarrido's curator insight, August 26, 5:08 AM

¡¡De eso se trata, de ser honesto!!

Ericko Pratama Kuswanto's curator insight, October 3, 12:22 PM

I think this is very clever marketing strategy. Very simple, yet bring many advantages. The hotel just needs to deliver what they offer. They just have to tell the truth and show the truth, because that is all that every customer needs from every business they come to. Many hotels nowadays pay much money to photographers just to make their products and services look even better than they should be. Seeing the photos might interest people. However, as the technology grows, many people now are very sensitive to advertisements. They tend to observe the advertisement well, just to make sure they do not get trap by the beauty of the advertisement. They do not just look at the photos; they also go to the reviews web page to make sure everything. Therefore, if the business being honest to their customers, there is nothing to worry about for the business to get customers. They will come without so much effort to advertise their business.
