"NYC & Company, the marketing and tourism arm of New York City, is setting its sights on New Yorkers, urging them to get out of the house and explore the city's five boroughs.

Created in-house, the three-month "See Your City" campaign uses posters, video and microsite to call out "must see" attractions for locals. The microsite showcases 10 neighborhoods, two from each of the boroughs, including Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, Harlem in Manhattan, Long Island City in Queens and St. George in Staten Island."

This is something any city could use to help lead "in town" customers to look at their city like visitors do. I live in a beautiful city in Northwestern Ontario, called Kenora. We are a huge tourist destination (our population of 15,000 doubles in the summer), yet many of our "in town" shoppers travel 2 1/2 hours to a larger city to shop and enjoy the culture, foregoing the strong arts and entertainment culture of our own city. I haven't mentioned the tremendous opportunities our destination offers with respect to nature; we are situated on the shores of Lake of the Woods, a huge body of water with over 40,000 islands to explore. The fishing here is second to none.

Leur opinion de l'échelon administratif le plus pertinent pour communiquer est partagée : même si le pays touristique est celui qui globalement rassemble le plus de suffrages, au final c'est d'abord le "nom" grand public de la destination qui tend à s'imposer comme l'échelon local adéquat de communication."
